Club Insurance

Post by Trefor Owens » Fri Oct 03, 2014 9:59 am

Good morning,
our club is setting up a junior club and is also looking for general club insurance - equipment, liability etc.

We have a modest set up, say 20 sets of standard plastic pieces, 6 'nice' wooden boards and 15 plastic/vinyl + a dozen clocks analogue
The junior club is ready to run, we have DBS checks in place etc.

Does anyone know of a chess friendly Insurance scheme?

Our committee has approached the company mentioned on the ECF website but they seemed very hesitant to answer any questions we had, especially regarding a claim against the club, should for example someone drop a board on their foot or anything related to children.
We are not of course anticipating any such claim but would like to ensure that full cover for the club, and the committee is in place

and like most clubs our finances are somewhat limited!

any help would be very much appreciated

Thanks

Trefor

You may want to talk to the owners of the premises you are using. In many cases their own insurance will cover most of your needs (certainly as regards PL cover, which is the area of most concern).

Refusal to answer questions would certainly set alarm bells ringing.
