Three Irish players also playing, and IM Sam Collins won in this round to reach the same score as Alan Merry - 4.5/7. Excellent result there from Alan, drawing with a young and (relatively?) strong GM from the USA. Let's hope the last two rounds see good results.

Further up, Alan's nemesis, Chigaev, lost in round 6 to the joint-top seed Alexei Shirov (Latvia). At the moment, the leaders on 6/7 are Shirov and Hovhannisyan (Armenia) and Baron (Israel).
