Post by JamesGallagher » Sun Jul 17, 2016 11:14 pm

A new Merseyside junior chess league has been created and starts in September 2016. It is expected that between 8 and 10 teams will compete for the first Merseyside Junior league title. All fixtures, results and league tables will be presented on the Merseyside Chess association web site.
Any other teams from Chess clubs or Schools on Merseyside may enter the Junior league which is open for children aged 7 to 17, but entries must be registered before the end of July 2016 for entry in this years competition
Interested schools or clubs should contact Jim Gallagher from Liverpool Chess Club on 07789 924983 or [email protected]

Fixtures in the new junior league will be one game a month between September and April but dates and times of fixtures will be flexible and agreed between the two team captains for each fixture for any date in the month allocated for that game

It is possible some fixtures would be played on a weekend or at a neutral venue midway between two clubs, e.g. Hoylake and Southport could play at the Liverpool venue to save on travel time
