Please view my previous message re English Championship/Selection methods.

Which selection method do you prefer, selection tournaments or selection by paper sift ?

Surely there can be no debate? Selection tournament(s) must be the right method.

The reason I use the plural is it might be appropriate to have more than one event to genuinely select the best candidate, and eliminate any citicism of "one-off" problems.

How about creating an examination solely for the purpose of England selection? It could be like the ECF Certificate of Excellence except harder and focussed on the skills needed for playing for England.
