"Sometimes the pendulum swings both ways." Kevin Keegan (genius)

Week 4 headlines.

Paul Cooksey retakes the lead from Greg Breed who drops to second.

Kevin Williamson top scores with a 69 and shoots up the ladder.

David Marshall misses matching his ECF grade by just one point. Simon Ansell and Jonathan Tait each miss by two points.

Ben Edgell consolidates his position in last place with a big fat zero - but of the tryers, Nigel Wright's 16 is the rubbish score of the week. Does he support Crystal Palace?

Who are the non-chess playing entries? An insistence on at least Bronze membership maybe necessary in future!

Ben could easily get into the minuses by transferring out his team of non-players and no-hopers for a whole new team of the same (and do the same each week)! There are plenty of players who will not get off zero this season.

That would be cheating as you get a -4 penalty for each 2nd weekly transfer. I wonder if there's a prize for the lowest overall score!

Maybe I'm missing the point - isn't Ben's aim to score 0, rather than minus-something?

So I've had a team since the start of the season, but only noticed this thread yesterday. Apologies to those I've bumped down a place...

My aim is to score exactly zero. Quite proud to say I've got 7 ineligible players in my starting line up. Made some cunning transfers to negate the effects of a poor early signing playing a game, and now I'm on -1. So need to find someone to score exactly 1 point for the rest of the season. Incidentally, I'm nowhere near last- there's about 27,000 people worse off then me.

On a side-note, Alex, did you get the email I sent you a couple of days ago?

Week 5

"The Swedish back four is amongst the tallest in the World Cup. Their average age is 7 foot 4" Chis Waddle

The Headlines

Despite FIFA rules about being on the pitch at the start of the match Rob Ensor keeps his promise to start late and knocks 99% of teams down a place.

All bar Mark Leonard (he prefers not to support Yeovil), who climbs to the top of the pack.

Andrew Harley jumps to third, while past leaders Paul Cooksey and Greg Breed fall back to tied fourth.

Top score an amazing 81 from Steven Smith.

The rubbish score among the tryers this week from the 'One Legged Man" who managed just 23 hops.

My team is on holiday this week. I had Ruddy in goal - ouch, and just about everyone else scored 1 or 2 points. Not the 50-60 average i was hoping for :(

"Didier Drogba's had malaria, so he's not 100 per cent fit .... for whatever reason.' - Glenn Hoddle

WEEK 6 HEADLINES

Bloody hell, where did he come from.....Suffolk I suppose. Paul Cooksey and Andrew Harley chase the tractor.

Barry Redburn from the Radcliffe & Bingham Chess Club top scores with 83 and moves into the top 20.

Alex Holowczak isn't quite bored yet and scores 74

Adam Hunt was going so well, but was hit with the rubbish score of the week, just 29 which he shares with Mike Lamb.

Ben Edgell remains on -1 - will he find the point he needs to get back into balance?

So having persevered with Brad Friedel all season, I saw that Spurs kept a clean sheet, and was chuffed. Of course, upon closer inspection, I saw that this is the first time that Friedel misses a league game in the last 310; the first time since 2004...

Added to the fact that Cerny, my backup, didn't play, and I had a rather disappointing week in terms of point production from my goalies. Might be time for a transfer...

"We threw everything at them -- the kitchen sink, golf clubs, emptied the garage. It wasn't enough but at least my garage is tidy now" Ian Holloway (who else?)

HEADLINES

The Tractor IM extends his lead over Paul Cooksey and Andrew Harley, but Kevin Williamson gains ground again and moves smoothly into fourth.

Top score goes to Dominic Rabbitte with a wholesome 73 and he moves up 13 places (and goes ahead of Liam!)

Rubbish score of the week - a meagre 28 - goes in my direction (sac, sacced (a discworld word), or sack the manager!)

Ben Edgell remains in hibernation and hopes to survive the winter.

Interviewer "Are you a volatile player?" David Beckham "Well, I can play in the centre, on the right and occasionally on the left side." Nice one David!

HEADLINES

The late entry Tractor boy ploughs on in front.

Neil Graham's Custards top score with 76 and move up 13 places to 31st.

The Dusty Bin is handed over to Mark Page with a measly 24 - have sympathy, he's probably a Coventry fan, so has first-hand experience of what rubbish looks like?

No one equalled their ECF grade - but there were some near-misses.
