It's an unnecessary conflict as Swiss Pairing software has a feature that can forbid certain pairings. It seems not all arbiters are aware of this or are prepared to use it.Mike Truran wrote: Should have kicked him out of the tournament.

If you mean that the organisers should have had the foresight to require all players to sign a declaration that they were willing to play against any opponent irrespective of race, creed, nationality etc, then I agree with you, But when FIDE themselves, like the governing bodies of other sports, aren't willing to do it, what do you expect?Mike Truran wrote:Maybe a little foresight on his, his national federation's and the organisers' behalf would not have gone amiss.
