Div 3 North 2016-17

Post by Mick Norris » Sun Jun 12, 2016 6:21 pm

Division 3 North might look like this, but with Ashfield Breadsall 1 & 2 to be slotted into the seedings, not sure where - presumably the first team will be in the top 8

1 Cheddleton 2
2 Manchester Manticores 1
3 Broadland Bitterns
4 Spirit of Atticus B
5 3Cs 2
6 Manchester Manticores 2
7 Bradford DCA Knights B
8 Manchester Manticores 3
9 Manx Ravens
10 Bradford DCA Knights C
11 Holmes Chapel
12 Jorvik
13 Spirit of Atticus C
14 Cheddleton 3

Not that I have heard of, have you?

We are considering a 4th team, but I think Mark has enough on his plate with 3

Would be good if we end up with 16 teams again, so we can have another 8 page discussion about the pool system

17 would be good too, so we can argue the toss over triangular matches and whether the Swiss system could cope. :D

Div 3 North 2016-17 Seeking a team

Post by Thandla Raghavendra » Sun Aug 07, 2016 11:34 am

My daughter, Mahima Raghavendra, is looking for a place in a team that plays in the 4 NCL North (Div 3). Does anybody have a place available.

Best Wishes
Raghu

Since you seem to hail from Atherton (apologies if wrong!) I'd very much get after the Manchester Manticores. Mark Whitehead's details are a fair way down this page - http://www.4ncl.co.uk/team_captains.htm .

The Manticores run multiple teams each weekend - drawn from round Lancashire as well as Manchester itself - and the bottom team in particular tends to have somewhat varying players in it. I'd imagine that they'd be very happy to get an extra player.

Not sure about that Martin...
Manchester has loads of players in the squad, I believe. Its problem is it probably needs another team to accommodate all the players.
This would need an additional captain, because running four teams is too much for one man.
If that was to happen, it might be good to split the group roughly north-south. We`ll see how the numbers stack up.
Or maybe create a separate team...?
No doubt Mark will update on how the numbers look..
Certainly some additional teams for the 4NCL Northern section would be very welcome..

Disagree with most of that

Definitely. There is a mild structural problem with MM & Bradford having so many teams, but they're very much the places to start in their areas. You can never have too many players :)

Nothing definite. We're down to 15 teams at the moment in Div 3 North, so a fourth team may well come in very handy if you can muster enough players.

Latest team lists are on the 4NCL website - they need to be checked by Dave W and Dave T as they're my best shot at the moment and I have been known to make mistakes in the past.

I see we have lost SoA C, and Manx have changed from Ravens to Liberty

I'm not sure that Broadland are coming back

Maybe a slight surprise there hasn't been a keen promotion seeker or two come in. As things stand - all the genuinely strong teams having achieved promotion then stayed there! - its definitely a weaker league than 3S.

Possibly Martin, but we'll have to see how strong the teams are when we see the registration lists

We're waiting to see if Magnus continues to be a bit rubbish in team competitions, but if he if he plays well in Baku we might offer him a spot in the Manticores
