Bournemouth Grand Congress : April 20-22 2012

Post by Phil Taylor-Bowd » Thu May 03, 2012 6:10 pm

Our inaugural Bournemouth Grand Congress at the Carrington House Hotel was a huge success with over 150 entrants in total. The Open was convincingly won by David Howell with 5/5.

Full crosstables, photos and games from the Open can be found on the Bournemouth Chess Congresses website.
Remaining games from the other sections of the congress should be online within a week or so.

We have every intention of holding the second edition in April 2013 which we hope will be even bigger and better!

The Bournemouth Grand Chess Congress is really good plenty of room to play in the venue. A well run event and plenty of space out side of the playing hall to relax after your game.
I was rather pleased to share the under 140 grading prize as well.

Congratulations to Peter D. Williams on that grading prize and to Peter A. Williams on his 2nd/3rd place (with GM Cherniaev) in the Open.

There are 3 active in the grading d/b - Peters snr. & jnr. above, plus Peter R. Williams (England). There are 12 in total if you include the inactive Peters.

My dad is Peter R Williams grade 77 but he does not play very much sometimes as filler or at the Richmond rapidplay my grade is 132 Peter A Williams is 224. It can be confusing at Christmas time!
