Don't worry Soheil. I make worse blunders than that.

Even top GMs are not immune to this sort of foozle.

Re: Blunders
Black can play on in the original example by giving up his Q on d1, though White should still win in due course?

Re: Blunders
Yes he could have. But White has a number of different advantages like outside passed pawn and better coordination. Coordination talks in these situations, especially.

Yes, he 'd win. Actually 2.dxc4 was a mistake. bxc4 was better, and Black would be statically better.

Re: Blunders
I notice this was a blitz game, much worse blunders than yours happen all the time. One notable example being Svidler's rook blunder in the final of the World Cup
Re: Blunders
My worst by far was against Mr. Blunderful himself -
Is that exceptional?

Re: Blunders
Remember Kramnik allowed mate in 1 against a computer when not worse.
The late Al Horowitz told me the following story twice. It is even possible it may be true.
He was kibbitzing a simul by Capablanca. Capa played QxQ mate.
Friend 'Have you ever seen such a strong move?^
Al' Certainly. I was once playing, played my move and my opponent dropped dead.
The following story was in 'Blunders of the Year' in Not the BCM.
Black made his move and offered a draw.
White thought for som time and then resigned.
The blunders are all there - waiting to be made.

Re: Blunders
I have just invented the following:
White Kf6, Pe6. Black kf8 rg8 ra5 bb5.
1...Be8. 2 e7#. In a completely winning position, Black has forced White to mate him.

Well, it's a Worst Move On The Board. That's grown into quite a long series on the S&B blog.John McKenna wrote:My worst by far was against Mr. Blunderful himself -

Re: Blunders
Reckon this rather too recent effort of mine was quite classy in a slightly unusual way.
Not often you get to repeat the same blunder twice in three moves

Re: Blunders
Thanks for that reminder about the S&B blog series on blunders, JackIs that exceptional?
Well, it's a Worst Move On The Board. That's grown into quite a long series on the S&B blog.
Mine is probably too easy for inclusion - I made the blunder automatically.
It's the "worst move(s) on the board" that take some effort to find that take the cake.
Also, what I meant by asking if it is 'exceptional' was - have others blundered horribly against Mr. Blunderful? (There are examples of him blundering about elsewhere on the forum, but do his opponents also lose to him by blundering, as I did, was what I was wondering.)
*Edit: The one by MartinCarpenter, above, looks like a candidate for the S&B blog series, but the PGN is wrong.*
