(Other moves are also played of course, e.g. 7. cxd5.)

White played 11. Ndxe4, which Panczyk and Ilczuk (2002) gave as equal, preferring 11. Ncxe4! after which their line went 11...dxe4 12. Rd1 Nxe5 13. O-O Bxd2 14. Qxd2 Qxd2 15. Rxd2 Be6 16. b3 f6 17.Bf4 Rad8 18. Rfd1 with a better ending. I don't know whether anything has happened since then to alter that verdict.

On holiday in Denmark - I am using my iPhone 6 to pick up the live commentary on round 1 via the event website.

Both audio and visual are first class.

Many thanks to Kevin, Alex and the team in Bournemouth.

Agreed, super commentary and no problems with transmission up to now. Praise goes to the organisers.

Anyone who had board 31 is off the mark as Golding has drawn with Brooks.

Is that half or 1 point for us? James & Phil are fine players.

Is there anywhere we can see results from the lower boards, i.e. those that aren't on live transmission?

Well done Freddie Hand who has drawn with Richard Palliser (one of my five, as well).
