There may be a problem with that board. The first move to appear was sacrificing the knight on b4 which, if taken, would give black some dangerous looking pawns. The move has now changed to taking on d4 which looks far less plausible.
And now it's showing that Hebden recaptured on d4 so maybe the position is correct after all
I'd be very surprised if Wells played his knight to d4 rather than b4.

You are right Justin, it has now been corrected to b4 and Wells has an overwhelming position

Talking of unbelievable, check out Richard Birkett's 30th. If he really played that then it beats Jonathan nelson.

Qxb7 lost to Rb8.

Presumably he'd missed that after 30 Qxb7 Rb8 he has 31 Qh7 covering b1 :?

Backwards diagonal move again!

Or he might have thought aha, I can take the pawn on h6, then come back again and skewer the king - without reckoning on ...Kf7 and ...Bg7.

Duncan-Willmoth is fascinating if you like watching paint dry.

It's funny, I don't think Chris Duncan sees a way in, but Chess24 Stockfish found one or two at just about the point you posted that!

Anyway, six-way tie on 3.5/4 with the possibility of a seventh if Emms can beat Batchelor.

But Emms couldn’t win. Nicely defended by the young fella, I thought. Not least since he was down to increments. A lesser chesser - i.e. me - would have found it easy to crack under pressure. Especially when Emms doubled on the 7th not long before the end.

There's no additional lighting for board 5, what it does have is a spotlight over the board, so arguably it's amongst the better lit boards. Players in the weekenders on Friday evening are likely to discover how well or how badly the lighting copes with a lack of daylight.
