Re: World Youth Championships

The match description gives me a vivid recollection of a rapid game I played about 30 years ago in which my opponent took 8 minutes on the game, a very exciting game in which I had little idea what was happening. My opponent seemed to find tactic after tactic but, unlike the Southbourne game, I just...

Re: World Youth Championships

Haven't quite worked out how to incorporate previous comments but anyway..... "Some people think it is 'funny' to troll someone by pretending to be them. Though sometimes it is the person themselves, it can also be others (e.g. non-chess playing teenagers or adults who should know better who know th...

Re: World Youth Championships

It should be borne in mind that a number of these online accounts pre-dated this season. This doesn't prove anything but few chess people were aware of Declan at the time these accounts were up, running and then closed down.

Re: World Youth Championships

A good point Jaimie. It certainly isn't Declan's fault that this issue hasn't been put to bed three months after it was first raised and seven weeks after his dip in form in the London Classic.

Re: World Youth Championships

You may well be on course for a close-up view of the accuracy, Ian. Top 2 entrants in the Dorset Rapidplay on March 15th. Ian Thompson, Crowthorne (205) Declan Lovelock, Southbourne (195L) https://www.dorsetchess.co.uk/100-day-countdown-to-25th-dorset-rapidplay-1000-in-cash-prizes-entries-now-possib...

Re: World Youth Championships

A draw. It would be great to hear about an in-depth and evenly-matched post-mortem, something that has been missing to date.

Re: World Youth Championships

"I have no idea why people are even contemplating the possibility that "Natasha" is some kind of real and bona fide person."

For my part, it's simply because I am suspending my disbelief in all manner of ways connected with this saga.

Re: World Youth Championships

I don't feel inclined to continue this conversation with Natasha as it seems pointless. The online account stories only serve as a distraction to the OTB performances; either tremendous or appalling. It's tempting to ask Natasha why people would open an online account on lichess or chess.com to disc...

Re: World Youth Championships

I could have responded differently I guess. There were so many reasons to believe that these posts were not from a FIDE representative, I was spoilt for choice.

I've been called worse, Justin, but normally there's a little more justification.

Re: World Youth Championships

I can understand apprehension with a slightly faster time control, even from someone who had a fantastic recent track record in blitz, scored 100% in a 10 second buzzer tournament and routinely plays league games in 10-15 minutes. I can't understand how a prospective ECF 220 player would play weak m...

Re: Statement made by the B&DCL and DCCA

Just to hopefully add some clarity and to tie together a number of previous posts, the chronology is (TPR ratings amended to approximate FIDE for consistency). [Maybe the ECF/DCCA have all this information but, if not, it may help them. I have stuck to facts and am ignoring everything to do with bas...

Re: World Youth Championships

This is my first post here. My comment, sticking to blitz chess only, is that surely it can't have been Declan playing on Sunday. His 10/11 in the Dorset blitz was a rating performance of around 220 ECF, with the lowest rated opponent being ECF 165. The first game in London blitz was a loss against ...
