Re: Best Game by an English Player (the vote)
not sure if it was the best game by an english player but my game against sutovsky from gibraltar 2005 was possibly the best game an english player was ever involved in.

Re: Does Ding Need to Pull his Finger Out?
My guess is he's under instructions not to play until the next world championship match. probably not in his power. if he plays and loses in the Chinese authorities eyes that will devalue his world title. especially if he loses out to magnus in a few tournaments. that's the nightmare scenario for th...

Re: Carlsen resigns on move 2
Hans certainly seems to be having an unusual reaction to all the drama. Kind of revelling in the fact a who’s who of chess has blocked him on Twitter. He puts their names up loud and proud. Appears to be in open warfare with Carlsen. Firing off dancing frog gifs at Yosha today, who is getting a fai...

Re: Worrying times
you come across as an embittered person, if your posts are anything to go by. the rowson review was just plain nasty, but i guess that reflects you as a person. Hi Danny - just take a breath sometimes before you post! I'd much rather have you on the site than not because it's good to have the profe...

I dunno, but you seem to have a bee in your bonnet, this isn't a questionnaireJustinHorton wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 5:20 pmRight, but before I get back to that, do you have any criteria relating to the death rate in mind, or are you just going to say the schools reopen on a given date?

Re: Worrying times
anyone else feel that they've changed their mind on this issue and that we need to come out of lockdown as soon as possible? What's "as soon as possible" here, though - what criteria would you be applying? lets go with schools first, and shops like hairdressers. gradually other shops and pubs can o...

Re: Worrying times
I've read that herd immunity won't be achieved with this thing until we get about eight waves of the virus. not sure that's true though. I saw that, can't remember where now. As often happens, the sums looked ok but at some point there was a leap of logic which I couldn't follow. I'm leaning toward...

Re: Chess once we restart over the board
if schools reopen in three weeks time, will after school chess clubs follow suit? or will they be regarded as an unnecessary risk? can imagine a lot of chess coaches are rather unsure about what is going to happen in this case.

let's face it we don't really know anything about the virus. the different haphazard responses by governments has shown as much. we are all learning on the go

Well the posts I made earlier are related to life after pandemic, what are the consequences of the disease on tournaments etc. can't speak for others.

Re: Chess once we restart over the board
I think there are now rather a lot of posts better suited to the 'worrying times' thread , although if that is to get new lease of life, I'd rather see the thread moved to Not Chess. I don't necessarily come to a chess forum to be constantly reminded about the precarious state of the world especial...

I think most of us will get it in the end, so unlike we develop a vaccine soon, you are just putting it off until you get it.
