Re: Millionaire Major Coughing Scandal

It was, in every sense of the term, "a show trial". Therefore it seems fitting that,17 years after, true justice necessitates a denouement in a portrayal by thespians. For I am sure Ms Clifford is quite right about what´s to happen next - https://uk.yahoo.com/news/sian-clifford-hopes-wants-millionai...

Re: Millionaire Major Coughing Scandal

Since when the playwright, James Graham, got a three part TV Drama shot. It´s also going to be steamed on US TV in 2020. They´re in Post Production now. Or, as they say in the trade, "It´s a wrap". When he accompanied me as my invited guest in late 2004, Bob Woffinden commented to me in the dressing...

Re: Writing a Letter

And another thing, whilst were harping on about people´s use of English.. I got a ´B´ Grade for my English Literature GCSE Exam in 1976. This was because the directions in quite a significant past of the exam, were to comment on any TWO pieces of the four literary excerpts of Section 1 and any other...

Re: Shogi

Over thirty years ago I wrote a book in which, based upon a handful of games I had played with Les Blackstock, I forecast a big future for Shogi. Game ends by checkmate...Chess King, Chess Rook, Chess Bishop...but pawns capture in the same manner in which they move. The last THREE ranks are the prom...

Re: Plaskett and Woffinden's book on the "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" Fraud

So, enough for now.
Let Messrs Benjamin, McReady and Farthing watch the series and judge for themselves.
(Possibly either around the time of Christ´s birth or resurrection!) :D

Re: Plaskett and Woffinden's book on the "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" Fraud

James Graham tells me they are entertaining the possibility of broadcasting the series this Xmas.
But, in view of post production work, it may be Easter 2020 before it hits the screens.

Re: Would you like to become a millionaire?

Mariotti popped up last month on the island of Rhodes at the World Veterans Team Olympiad, where Italy actually finished quite highly. First time I saw him. re Mr T.K. Hemingway, another name which features in the cutting of Sweby´s from a Luton paper and whom I have not seen now in over thirty year...

Re: 4 Missing knights

When Rossi and the late Parfitt of Status Quo appeared playing for charity on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? their first question was "How many knights are there on a chessboard at the start of the game?" And they did NOT say four. A new question was served them. And that they did answer correctly.

Re: Eric Schiller 1955-2018

I´ll say it. "A sick man is not to be pitied if he has a cure up his sleeve." Michel de Montaigne Schiller had the milder of diabetes two forms. I have taken injections for over forty years. O´Brien died in his sixties and had eye problems. Miles died of a heart attack at forty-six. Each was diabeti...

Re: Would you like to become a millionaire?

btw, one of my Phone A Friends, Bill Hartston, DID attend the play QUIZ during its West End Run. He voted them Guilty at the end of each act. He said to me that he thought audiences would have been more cynical had they had it presented to them that Ingram was later found guilty of another fraud. Bu...

Re: Plaskett and Woffinden's book on the "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" Fraud

Further to Martin Benjamin´s insisting that he did it, let me append TWO reviews. The first of our book, and from a guy who says he also thought only a fool could dispute Ingram´s guilt, and the second of the script of James Graham´s play, QUIZ - Amazon Customer 5.0 out of 5 stars Very well construc...

Re: Illegal Castling into Legal Castling.

There´s a famous game of Heidenfeld´s - visible at Tim Krabbé´s site - where he castled on BOTH wings! In deference to comments made by several contributors to this thread, I once had published a letter in CHESS advocating that, in view especially of the reliance on opening theory in today´s game, a...
