Re: Summary of Funding Proposals for AGM
This is because we do not have any league fees, KO Cup Fees, ... You're lucky then. Apart from ECF game fees, the league I'm Treasurer of has to pay officials expenses, trophy purchase and engraving costs, website costs and room hire for the AGM. That is all raised from league fees charged to clubs...

Re: Summary of Funding Proposals for AGM
Roger - how does it work at your chess club? 1. Do players have to be a member of your chess club to play league chess? 2. Do you charge a club membership fee ie: to cover venue cost per year, how do you split the cost of this between the players, for instance, the chap that plays 1 game for you, d...

Alex / Lara
I hope everything can be resolved to your satisfaction and that you both can carry on organising and managing Chess Congress's for years to come.

Re: Summary of Funding Proposals for AGM
Points (1) I have been part of a membership scheme, it was called levy and registration. As Club Treasurer, the job became simpler when Game Fee came in. (2) Cleveland gave up Game Fee, by my analysis anyway, because you made it far too complex. Set an entry fee for each club at the start of the se...

Re: CHESS CLOCK STORAGE
Witney Chess Club have just bought 18 Saitek Mephisto digital chess clocks (with the assistance of some public funds - thank you Oxfordshire District Council). Does anyone have any recommendations on strong and durable storage cases to keep them protected when they're not being used? - ideally lock...

Re: Behaviour of players and sanctions
In Cleveland several years ago two of our officials were advised to take legal action against an individual who called them corrupt on a forum and at that time the association had no means of dealing with such individuals. Yes I remember this and If I am not mistaken it was you who goaded that pers...

Re: Would your local chess league ban you for having a opini
Well the Cleveland chess association will. I was just reading through the Mins from Clevelands Exhecutive Meeting when i came across this paragraph 1. A.O.B. The President/Chairman brought up an incident a few weeks ago when he had been insulted by a presumed, but unnamed, member of the C.C.A. on t...

Re: strange happenings
I don't think it's that bizarre. After a long time when we thought the Office staff were not allowed to comment here as a result of a Board decision, the Board clarified this point, and said they could. Almost as soon as that was announced, they registered accounts here. Today, they felt the need t...

Re: Chief Executives Report
I believe in doing things properly and indeed always strive to do so and to that end distance myself from what I perceive to be failings or shambolic organisation. You make the point that I did not volunteer, that is indeed true but as I said I dont get involved in things I think are badly put toge...

Looks like the ECF will need a new CEO thenbenedgell wrote:Chris spoke convincingly of his confidence that Holloid will deliver, and has put his reputation on the line. He will not stand for office in October if they do not deliver."
