Re: Frequency of League Result Reporting

Yes, that it correct, although I can't remember if they went straight through or if you or the grading administrator had to approve it.

Re: Frequency of League Result Reporting

When the LMS submits a grading file (as when anyone does it manually), it will be rejected if a player does not have a grading code, and the grader can log into the grading system (or rating system) and request a new code. Or if they are not a grader then eventually the grading administrator will no...

Zugzwang is Brexit

Down the club the other night someone in zugzwang suggested that after Brexit we will need to replace some of these European chess words we have. And it occurred to be that the way the negotiations are going Brexit is a good replacement for Zugzwang. Black to move, black Ke8, white pawn d6, white Ke...

If anyone is interested in a demo of the ECF LMS at the British in Llandudno or wants to ask anything about it let me know and I will try and find a computer there.

General Facility for congress online entry

I have been developing a general chess congress on-line entry facility for congress organisers. It has been used successfully for several FIDE or ECF rated congresses in England/Scotland. I am wondering if any other congress organiser is interested in using it for their congress ? The organiser need...

Re: The plans for the Grading System

To what extent can existing League Management systems automatically generate files in the required format? My LMS generates the spreadsheet form of the grading file for leagues and club championships. A separate file is needed for standard and rapidplay events. Also logically a separate file for ea...

Re: The plans for the Grading System

What software do the local graders use now? Some of them use an old Windows program called League where you define player lists, teams and fixtures and then enter the match results to generate an ECF grading file. Some manually enter the XL spreadsheet format. Some use their own spreadsheets / macr...

Re: The plans for the Grading System

1. Doesn't it address a *different* objective to the one which the Home Director perceives needs to be addressed? As I understand it, the Home Director is concerned not with enhancing existing systems but with providing something for leagues which either don't have an existing system or which have ...

Re: The plans for the Grading System

I made the suggestion of using the API route some 3-4 years ago. At that time it fell on deaf ears. I am pleased that Malcolm P. has made a similar (in principle) suggestion. The email states: Alex proposed that the ECF should provide League Management Software as a free service to member organisat...

Re: The plans for the Grading System

It's now up on the main ECF site. http://www.englishchess.org.uk/league-management-system-tender-for-software-development I have to admit I did not read the full tender document, but I thought of a slightly different approach to the problem. The current proposal has an ECF owned event management sy...
