Re: World Senior Team Championships, Dresden 2018

Well, er, how are the 65+ doing? At 1.5 - 1.5 v. St Petersburg, Stebbings needed to win for team silver medal. A draw would leave them 4th behind Ger II. No pressure then. Going for it in a level position, Stebbings appears to have lost - utterly lost on the board, though final result shows 0.5 (an...

Re: Which Candidate Should the ECF Support in the FIDE Presidential Election? (Take 2)

Dangerous playthings, ethics commissions. Since Kirsan renounced all of his powers as President, haven't you been one of the people commenting that he was travelling round the world behaving as though he still retained them? What other decision could EC have reached? Jesus, Roger, why do you tolera...

Re: Which Candidate Should the ECF Support in the FIDE Presidential Election? (Take 2)

Isn't Spraggett on to something here with this FIDE delegate-bribery stuff when he declares that Makropoulos confesses to criminal behaviour? And it's surely takes plenty of brass neck for Makropoulos, having presided over the corruption for ages, now to ban it once he no longer has any money. Just ...

Re: World Senior Team Championships, Dresden 2018

Great save to win the match by Roger Emerson in the World Seniles, after wins from Bellin & Berry. Two veterans at the end of a long game, out on their feet, and staggering about all over the place :-)

I shall not trawl through my posts for your benefit when you obviously haven't bothered to do so yourself
Well, I try to pay full attention. But I cannot recall anything from you that remotely confirms your claim. One example would do

It's all a very odd state of affairs. Why does Dvorkovich bother if he's not confident of winning? That is, why would the Russians put so much political capital at risk?
A question which I have posed repeatedly

It's all a very odd state of affairs. Why does Dvorkovich bother if he's not confident of winning? That is, why would the Russians put so much political capital at risk? Better surely to let Kirsan take the hit if Makropoulos is indeed 'past the post', as his mouthy outriders claim. And then there's...

What's the problem?
Manifestly, none in this case. They played it out in good grace. Credit to them both

Re: New Time Limit in Correspondence Chess

I'm baffled. Where's the problem? You get your 50 days + 75; then you get your 3-day increment per move. Three days must surely be enough time to set your engines on the case, consult your local IM, email a regiment of under-employed and starving Ukrainian GMs, 'reflect' on their advice, and move

Andy's facing an effective 2323 field, making his norm target 5½/8. He needs a draw
