I've taken the time to trawl through minutes & annexes, as well as SPP's own website, and have found nothing. Can anyone help?
No one with anything else to do, surely

Re: Worst Chess Book (Review) Ever

Good find.

But were you looking for Leininger's Killing Suki Flood. Because, having read the opening page or two, I have news for you - Dostoyevsky, it ain't

Re: New Grade/Age Categories

Your numbers are correct when looking at ENG players only. When looking at all players, player #100 is graded 255. (There are a lot of foreign players with very high grades based on Gibraltar and the Isle of Man.) Right. Thanks for that clarification. It explains (I think) my incredulity that we (i...

Re: New Grade/Age Categories

I'm glad I kept my working! Row # 180 429 190 302 200 196 210 147 220 91 230+ 276 Grand Total 1441 Indeed. I'm grateful you kept your working too - and for the extra effort. But I'm now perplexed. Are there really 276 players (of 10418 active players) graded 230+? When I interrogate the ECF databas...

Re: National Chess Day

A few years ago I seem to remember that the Midlands Chess Counties Union (MCCU) wanted to organise a National Chess Day with the idea that chess events would be going on up and down the country to promote chess and local chess clubs etc. Since then I have heard little about it. Does such a day exi...

Re: New Grade/Age Categories

This is the information Neil asked for. This based on all players category A-E included in the January list. The first column is the lowest grade in the group. The first and last are <100 and >190 Row # 90 2404 100 819 110 918 120 971 130 980 140 829 150 813 160 672 170 571 180 1441 Grand Total 104...

Re: Div 3 North 2017 - 18

3/5 Div 2 fixtures next season are in Telford which is a 2 hour drive Oxford have the geographic fortune to be not much more than an hour away almost wherever the 4NCL is located, apart from Telford. Again depending where you start, it's less than two hours to Telford from Oxfordshire. I've done it...

Re: GDPR : What are the implications for LMS systems ?

Example 2 A chess club sets up a website on which it publishes results of the chess matches its members have played in tournaments against other clubs. Although the members of the club share a recreational interest, the personal data is being processed for the distinct collective purposes of the cl...

Re: Lomonosov 7-piece query

Yeah. But I don't have. I checked the website; signed up; but no PC access. I think I've got Lomonosov on disk somewhere, but have been too bone-idle to load it. As per usual

Re: Lomonosov 7-piece query

Thanks indeed. I wouldn't worry too much about 1. b4 since the B (c5) could be pretty much anywhere. In fact the game ended with a repetition: 1...Bf2; 2 Ke2 Be3; 3 Kd3 And I was White v. one of my club's highly promising 15 year olds. We'll use the Lomonosov verdict to save some time when coaching ...

Lomonosov 7-piece query

If anyone has ready access to the Lomonosov 7-piece tablebase, I'd appreciate help with the following position: White Kd3, Nf3, b3 Black Kd5, Bc5, b5, f4 Either to move (I doubt it's material) The position arose last night in a league game when, after extensive efforts to make progress, Black offere...

Re: New Grade/Age Categories

I think Angus has done a good thing here. Not sure I've seen this data before. It's the kind of data that should inform ECF's strategic thinking - though I see scant evidence of that. If I had more time, I'd offer up some tentative analysis. But for now, I'll offer this: * 50% of chess, and at least...

New Grade/Age Categories

There are now new - new to me, at least - 'top player' age categories on the ECF grading site. The oldest category used to be 70+, with a filter to select those qualified. Now the categories have been extended to embrace filters for 75+ and 80+ Many great names, mostly amateur untitled players, feat...

Just push the date back to 1948, and be done :)
