I think he may have worked with BH Wood on Chess for a while, possibly running the "Postal Chess Club".

That is correct. I corresponded with KE on a number of occasions in the 1970s on such matters.

I believe that the BCM reference is total fiction but I stand to be corrected as always.

Re: Keith Escott

Are there any details of his work as "an editor of BCM"? As a current editor and maintainer of the BCM Wiki page I would also be interested. Over the years many persons have been credited as Editors of BCM when they have not. Here is the list: John Watkinson (1833–1923), founding editor 1881–87. Ro...

Re: Young Authors

You could also look for writings by young chess players at article level, which would expand the scope somewhat. James and myself invited Theo Slade to write for BCM when were both working for BCM . Theo was twelve when he wrote his first BCM article. Now a resident of Orlando, Florida and doing ve...

Re: Young Authors

To put the above into context let us not forget that Ray Keene during the gap between Dulwich College and Cambridge Ray (aged 18) wrote his first (and one of his best) book : Flank Openings : 5098501._SY475_.jpg I would argue that in 1966 this would have been far more of an achievement that the exam...

Re: Francis Joseph Lee

British Chess News is now back up, having crashed on Wednesday evening. I suspect the problem was that too many people were trying to read my FJ Yes, I'm sure that the FJ Lee article was the catalyst. It was, in fact, a file path issue caused by a clash with WordFence Pro and the ISP hosting soluti...

The shorter-lived precursors (of which I knew nothing, just like this one) included the fascinating 'Colour Me Pop': https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colour_Me_Pop Apparently it was designed to "celebrate the new introduction of colour to British television". My Dad refused to purchase a colour televi...

Re: OGWT

For my sins I have a vested interest in 1970s music and have a few questions. How popular was The Old Grey Whistle Test in the 70s? Did anyone watch it? Top of the Pops was the main music show that I know but a number of bands now insist that their appearance on The Old Grey Whistle Test was instru...

Chess back on Corrie soon; I'm told that 1 of my games will feature, probably in May
Was this a game you played in an Opera House Mick?

How did Coronation Street come across this encounter?

Re: Clock Bangers

The ECF rating database has no knowledge of yourself in its current incarnation. Presumably your most recent league match was prior to 1994. I believe he plays in Scottish league chess. I attempted to use https://www.chessscotland.com/grading/search-players/ and found no Sinclairs with the forename...
