In this case it was a security infrastructure issue. If it was just the server going down, there are robust back-up routines.

It's not so clear at the very top, but further down. Consider what happens in the next to those in the age group when you qualify for 70+. Many seniors could learn from the exceptions who seem to retain their rating with increasing age.

The top player list works on "FIDE age". It changes on 1st January based on the age one attains in the year.

Enjoy it while you can, another cohort arrives at the end of the year. They tend to push aside incumbents.
