Re: ECFgrading SSL

This reply from Dave Thomas, via Andrew Walker in the ECF office --- The SSL certificate is used to encrypt data transmitted between the user and the web site. There is no facility for confidential data to be passed between the user and the grading website - therefore using HTTPS (and thereby acces...

Re: Britbase Question

It's slightly weird. As has already been pointed out the piece images are giving 403 errors but if you access them directly in then address bar with https then they work fine (eg https://www.saund.co.uk/pgn4web-3.03/images/merida/36/bk.png ). The first complaint on the https page is about the twitt...

Re: Britbase Question

When attempting to fetch the same URI I see a http 2xx type code for the http URL whereas for the https type URL I see a 403 status code. This suggests to me, at least, an SSL implementation issue. I agree as some images like the white rook load fine on SSL. The only thing I can guess/think of is t...

Looks like a mis-configuration of the server.

Re: Britbase Question

Hmmm, that link gives me: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /britbase/img/1973_champions.jpg on this server. Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Yes it was working earlier so perhaps JS is attempting to fix it s...

Re: Britbase Question

Hmm the images are ok so this is valid:

https://www.saund.co.uk/britbase/img/1973_champions.jpg

It might be getting lost in the iframe or is just not referring to itself properly?

Re: Britbase Question

Looks like a resource location issue to me and nothing to do with SSL but I am looking now. Yes confirmed it is you John somewhere although I can't put my finger on it right now it isn't the SSL that is for sure. I didn't write that the display problem was an SSL issue. I was attempting to help JS ...

Anyway, was any decent chess played today? Most of what I looked at (which maybe wasn't much) had a certain Saturday-evening-in-a-weekend open feel to it.
It is quite a fast time limit now not sure that is helping.
