Re: 2018 World Championship in London

No I don't think it would make a huge difference but it would make mistakes slightly more likely and probably make the flow of the tournament feel better. I find the idea that people might want the two players to play bad chess quite shocking. I think the chances of bad chess are far higher in the ...

Re: World Cadet Chess Championship 2018

Julia won again today and is now on 6.5/8 in 3rd place. I think next round she will be white against the tournament leader who is on 7.5/8. Both players are clearly in very good form and have similar ratings, so Julia should have a good chance.

Re: World Youth Chess Championship 2018

The only English junior ranked in the top 40 in their event is Koby Kalavannan (No 24 in U16), and he was checkmated by a 1998 opponent in round 1. Anyone interested can just click on the red bar at the bottom of the video and drag it along to restart the commentary at an earlier point.

Re: What is a Bona Fide Member of a Chess Club

When any player plays their first match for a club they have joined they could be accused of not being "Bona Fide" member and just being drafted in for that one match particularly if it is a cup match. If there is no further definition of "Bona Fide" in the context of the competition rules then at s...
