Re: Briish Championship Congress 2021
If the Scot chose the British as their national championship then they are much less likely to play in the Scottish as no norm is likely from it. It's worth noting that Trisha Kanyamarala was born in 2005, and I believe she is the first Irish WIM.

Re: H E Atkins
Yes, I think your solution is more likely as move 17 for black on the scoresheet says QR-K1 and not R-k1, which suggests there was a choice of rooks to move to K1 as in your line.

Re: British Online Chess Championships 18th December 2020 to 3rd January 2021
Yes, the problem is using the rules as they stand in a small tournament. It is interesting to consider if there are other "more sensible" pairings and then working out whether it would be possible to draw up an improved set of pairing rules for tournaments with small numbers. I worked out the pairin...

Another alternative 5 11, 4 1, 6 8, 9 10, 12 7, 14 13 (I only looked at it quickly so could be wrong).

Re: Playing opponents born the longest time apart
Sorry, I know it probably isn't relevant - unless they played chess- but given the recent US election, one fact that I find difficult to comprehend is that Harrisson Ruffin Tyler(aged 91), the grandson of the the 10th US president John Tyler, is still alive 230 years after his grandfather was born.

Re: FIDE Online Olympiad 22 July to 30 August 2020
I think one of the issues was that there was no easy answer given that two players had disconnected at the same time through no fault of their own. I suspect most people would agree that the Armenian ruling was unfair on them, even if technically correct. These things happen and we should be happy t...

Re: Covid-19 - Suspend Chess Immediately
My instinct is that at the moment the government are not trying to totally restrict the number of cases, but instead using policies which allow them to increase (particularly in certain age groups) at a rate such that panic is minimised until the number of positive tests reaches somewhere in the reg...
