Re: Division One 2018-19

Jonathan You'll be pleased to know I have (I hope) at long last found a new reporter, following the resignation of both last season's scribblers - both of whom decided they had better things to be doing with their lives. Despite what you may think, persuading people to take the queen's shilling is n...

Re: Div 4 South 2018/19

The ECF website seems to be lacking when it comes to information regarding what level of membership is required for the different flavours of competition. All reinforcing the feeling of an anti-FIDE sentiment

UK Open Blitz Championship

Congratulations to David Howell and Sophie Milliet on winning the above. It should set him up nicely for our away match against Didcot this Wednesday. :D http://che...

Re: New National Blitz event

I'm planning to get the event launched tomorrow ready to take entries, assuming I don't break down.
As you don't drive, presumably mentally?

Re: County Championship Finals

I was there to present the prizes, and I agree the playing conditions weren’t great. No promises (money is tight as always), but we’ll see if anything can be done for next year.

Re: Rapidplay dates: clarification

If people were minded to do a bit of investigation with their colleagues as to how many teams might support a one-day team event and how much people might be willing to pay, I would happily undertake to try to find a suitable venue. In the absence of a two-day event, you don't need me to tell you th...

Re: Rapidplay dates: clarification

We’ve gone for a straight individual event in the end. There wasn’t much enthusiasm from past captains for the suggested new format and the previous format was financially unsustainable - and probably financially even worse this year because of the ECC clash. So we’ve invested the intended team priz...

Re: Director of Women's Chess

Roger Your post could possibly be construed as being a little ambiguous to the inattentive reader. I believe you mean (although please correct me if I'm wrong) that "the J4NCL comes immediately to mind" as an event that has been designed NOT "to thwart the efforts of junior clubs". In the spirit of ...
