Re: How do I?

Hi Paul, I frequently change licenses (Chess Scotland, ECF, 4NCL, etc). Other->Install->Display conditions for use->Accept conditions for use and then paste in the code. The only problems I have had are when I forget to do this. As a result one Scottish Championship was apparently run by Alex H!!! ...

Re: How do I?

Thanks, Michael, that is useful. So, the sharee is expected to go: Other > Install > type in license key Is that true? However, when I try that I get: "The program is still installed." and there is no option to add a new license. Must one instead prefix this with: "Remove user ==> Demo version" to r...

Re: How do I?

I would suggest that the reason for not sharing information by email is that any editing of the data causes the two databases being different. That might not be a problem if you hand over responsibility entirely to your colleague and do not wish to make furher updates yourself. Having spent many ye...

Re: How do I?

Some like to have pairing cards at their disposal. One of the bigger points of potential failure is printers, they run out of ink, paper or just sulk. With pairing cards, pairings can be transcribed from the pairing program and published without needing to write them longhand should there be a prin...

Re: How do I?

Do not ever send them by email. Ask the other user to download a copy directly from Chess Results (show tournament details), and give them your installation code for SM. Then they will be able to create pairings and upload them to Chess Results. If your sharee has issues it is because they have not...

Re: How do I?

In any case, as previously experienced and again anticipated, sending the TUNx files by email failed to allow the files to be used for read/write access by the sharee. Never mind. Further investigation needed.

Re: How do I?

In Swiss Manager b) print pairing cards for each individual player, suitable for manual pairing? How is that different from having a dog and barking yourself? It provides a fallback, in case the sharing of TUNx files doesn't work. Or other reasons that a fallback might be needed. I wasn't going to ...

Re: How do I?

Email them the file, or share it in the Cloud/Dropbox. So long as you have a licence at the right level, that's fine - it doesn't need to be the same specific licence. Not having the same specific licence might be a barrier to uploading the tournament to web - I enable that setting for security rea...

How do I?

In Swiss Manager

a) allow someone else to run a tournament that I have created from their copy of Swiss Manager?

b) print pairing cards for each individual player, suitable for manual pairing?

Surprising that the article got Ulvestad wrong
Yes, that must surely be my error, I'll correct that when I can.
What surprises me about that story is how Ray Keene failed to know the German for "first aid".

Re: Dominic Lawson on Question Time (BBC Radio 4) now

It's a minor point, but Nigel Lawson wasn't actually a member of Major's Cabinet Sorry, my sloppy shorthand for "senior Cabinet Minister during Thatcher's Prime Ministership, including Financial Secretary to the Treasurer and then Chancellor of the Exchequer for six years, personally responsible fo...

Re: Dominic Lawson on Question Time (BBC Radio 4) now

Quiz question. Which very rich man, married to the daughter of a Viscount, wrote the following disgusting sentences? I would guess George Osborne, married to Frances, daughter of David Howell. George Osborne is, of course, a highly intelligent man, but he has never seemed to show any empathy for th...
