Re: ECU General Assembly Resolution on Boycotts

The key sentence from the Times of Israel appears to be this one:-
According to Israel’s Army Radio, the IJF had threatened to ban Iran from international competitions, including the Olympics, if it did not agree to fight Israelis.

Re: Div 4 South 2018/19

Maidenhead is relatively near to Oxford as well. Bourne End is only 3 or 4 miles away, I think. Perhaps it's time for Roger to start an Airbnb business?

Re: Div 4 South 2018/19

The Oxford 2,3 and 4 teams are based on a core of regulars, including 1 player who played 7 times although living in Brussels! We had several others who played 8 times or more.

But there are plenty of players who played only once a weekend and others who played occasionally.

Re: Div 4 South 2018/19

Yes, Crowthorne were clearly the strongest team in Division 4. We expected Oxford 3 to paired with Crowthorne in Round 11, when there would most likely have been a very different outcome for us. It was a bit strange that Oxford 3, challenging for promotion, played West Is Best 3 with average rating ...

Fair enough.
And a big thank you to all those who help enable the 4NCL to take place.

Re: Div 4 South 2018/19

regarding end of season placings in Div3s and Div4s, Rule 13.2 says:- b. provided all possible matches between teams still tied have been played, the procedure detailed in rule 7.1(b) applied to such matches; and then if you refer to 7.1(b), it states:- the tie shall be broken using: a. the game poi...

Re: Losing on time when there is an increment

This was a very double-edged position, so not so easy to find a safe move.

Re: Losing on time when there is an increment

I've done it again! Ths time at the Stevenage Congress, against Roger de C. Again, the reason was I couldn't decide what move to play. There mjust be training you can do to make losing like this less likely. Perhaps I need to play in some Rapidplay tournaments.

Re: Media comments on chess

Nigel Short just got a mention on the cricket commentary on Talk Sport 2. Apparently he met the commentator David LLoyd at an Indian restaurant yesterday and gave the impression of being cricket mad.

Re: The ECF Academy tender

A board with strong experience in the commercial and business sectors would allow (if an option) more time to encourage a wide and diverse number of bidders. I don't know about anyone else on the board, but speaking as a former work colleague (and team mate!) of Mike Truran, I can assure you that h...

I wonder if there would be less abuse if people had to register with their real names, like we do on this forum.
