Division Two 2019-20

As usual Division Three South, Division Three North and Division Four South command attention on the forum - nothing at all on Division Two; so here's a thread should anyone wish to comment as the season progresses.

Re: UK Pun day

Are non-chess jokes allowed? If so, one of my favourites from Tim Vine: I thought my wife was joking when she said she was going to leave me because of my obsession with The Monkees. And then I saw her face. I'm sure that the moderators will fling us into the "not chess" section if we start a threa...

Re: UK Pun day

Or from Tim Vine

So, I ate this chess set. It was horrible. I took it back to the shop. I said, “This is stale, mate.” He said, “Are you sure?” I said, “Check, mate.”

UK Pun day

Today is UK Pun Day

So culled from the Twitter account:-

So I was telling my friend I hate backgammon. And draughts. He said "Hate chess too?" I said, "Don't even get me started on that high-speed rail project."

Re: Premier League Fantasy Football 2019-20

Week 25 "It was a big effort. It was a difficult game especially in the first half." Jordan Henderson - Liverpool go 22 points clear. We have an unusual situation with four teams tying for fifth spot. There is obviously some sort of tie-break system in force but thankfully we don't need a play-off ...

Re: US Election Chess Set

We will be overwhelmed with this sort of thing from across the Atlantic soon - watch out for the chlorinated roast chicken flavour crisps. Meanwhile I'll stick with my Brexit Chess Set https://brexitchess.myshopify.com/products/brexit-chess-game complete with Nigel Farage and Jacob Rees-Mogg Bishops.

Re: January Grades are out

All the Derbyshire League grades, although shown as being received, are not included in players' grades from that area. This will affect over 100 players.

Re: Premier League Fantasy Football 2019-20

Week 24 I wish we could have done better but I’ll take it. Jurgen Klopp after Liverpool open a 19 point gap by beating West Ham. It was the week to play your "Triple Captain" card with Liverpool having a double fixture. That was fine if you selected Mo Salah but not so if Sadio Mané who hobbled off...

Re: Premier League Fantasy Football 2019-20

Week 23 I would have said a few years ago that I had no interest whatsoever in working abroad, but i'm more interested now Eddie Howe. Possibly because he is 4/5 to be the next Premier Manager to be sacked. Week 23 was not high scoring as can be seen from the leading scores below - nevertheless no ...

Re: Premier League Fantasy Football 2019-20

On the topic of benched players I decided that Gazzaniga & Cathcart wouldn't be in my starting eleven today with the inevitable goalless draw between their teams and the added annoyance of a Gazzaniga penalty save  Jiminez hasn't done badly either  My starting eleven outscored my bench ...

Re: Media comments on chess

In case you missed it - Channel 4's "The Great Pottery Throw Down" - this week's challenge was to make a chess set. Very interesting designs.

Week 22 Here's another contender from 2019 for worst penalty https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-niqVw3wM2c . There was no change in our resident top five but their scores enabled other teams to make progress. We have to look well down Page Two for the top score of the week of 91 points from Richard D...
