Premier League Fantasy Football 2018-19

Forget Unai Emery and Mauricio Sarri - now's the chance to become a real Premier League manager and challenge Andrew Harley - the Premier Chess Fantasy Football top manager for the last two seasons. With the kick-off just three weeks away you can join with the code 652881-143616 if you are a new pla...

Re: County Championship Finals

Could I take this opportunity to thank Mark, Alex and the team of organisers/arbiters for their work in the finals. If anyone has any comments I distinctly heard Mark advise people to contact him by e-mail. I have attended/played in/help organise any number of these events and the weather conditions...

Re: County Championship sponsorship

Can I give some details of the demographics of the Finals yesterday. The figures are subject to amendment but are about right. There were 208 players competing - 202 men and just 6 women. No female players in any of the tournaments from the U160 upwards. There were no more than 10 junior players out...

Re: County Championships 2018 Live

Answer to Chris's Trivia Question which I'm pretty sure I've given before in the County Championship thread. The last time all the sections were won by different counties was just 2015 Open : Yorkshire Minor : Essex U180 : Middlesex U160 : Lancashire U140 : Kent U120 : Hertfordshire U100 : Nottingha...

Re: County Championship sponsorship

This is all highly interesting in a week when Roger Federer changed his main sponsor to Uniqlo which has guaranteed him $300 million ($30 million a year) over the next ten years. He'll be 47 at the end of this sponsorship so not playing too much ranking tennis I guess. This is just one of Federer's ...

Re: Club bank accounts

"An ex-Treasurer/Financial Director of the BCF certainly defrauded the Federation." That's the one! (I assume there's only one...) Actually, both his next employers and the police were unhappy that he had been allowed to quietly resign, although I can see why the Federation acted as they did. The p...

I'm glad the Polish chess shop was stationary - you wouldn't have been able to purchase any stationery if it had been moving. :)

Re: Brian Hare

Actually its far from clear its illegal as such (to take a topical example, see the number of aliases "Tommy Robinson" has had) It would be illegal if you tried to obtain something you weren't entitled to by giving false details. I can remember that the late Paul Shand whose obituary was given on t...

Re: Premier League Fantasy Football 2017-18

Overall This is the last posting for the 2017-18 season (unless anyone else wants to add anything). Spare a thought for Bharat Dhody and his team Boom Xhaka Laca - after leading for every week bar one from Week 17, the Indian manager saw 1st place snatched from him in Week 38. His score of 52 point...

Re: County Championship Finals

Yeah, as Neil already said elsewhere, only one SCCU team in the Finals. Even that one is a bit strange, because I don't think of Surrey as a Minor County. Surrey "qualified" by finishing bottom of the SCCU Open Counties Championship section with 2/8 (losing to Middlesex, Essex & Kent but beating Su...
