Re: Premier League Fantasy Football 2019-20

Week 8 Manchester United have apparently set up a call centre for fans who are troubled by their current form. The number is 0800 10 10 10. Calls charged at peak rate for overseas users. Once again the number is 0800 won nothing won nothing won nothing. From the net. There is some consolation for O...

Week 7 “We have to stay together and help each other. The best medicine is to be all together." Mauricio Pochettino. Spurs thrashed at home 7-2 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Paul Spiller, one of the most successful Premier Chess managers in previous seasons, now takes an outright lead. ...

Re: Premier League Fantasy Football 2019-20

Which player scored 264 pts in 2016/17 including 24 goals and 11 assists but will score 0pts this season (still selected by 0.5% of managers)? Alexis? I remember him being very good back then and the assists make me think him rather than Lukaku. Correct! Alexis Sanchez in 2016/17 scored 264 points ...

Re: Would You Pay Extra to Win Prize Money?

When and where was this Michael? I can remember Reg Thimann as the Notts Junior Chess organiser.

Sorry to go off at a tangent btw.

Re: Premier League Fantasy Football 2019-20

Week 6 "After 30 seconds we realised it would be very tough and then after 15 minutes it was impossible to play like this." Quique Sanchez Flores after Watford lost 8-0 to Man City. Three of last week's top five disappear with Samuel Watts & Paul Spiller (week's high score of 82 pts) making giant l...

Re: Premier League Fantasy Football 2019-20

Week 5 "It was really easy to say ‘yes’.” - not the man from Del Monte but Quique Sanchez Flores about retaking the job at Vicarage Road. It seemed very easy following the preceding comment to add a deliberate mistake each week but, hopefully, I've managed to avoid this so far. Gavin Carter, one of...

Re: Chess & Bridge Withdraw Ray Keene's Book from Sale

In respect of Brian Eley no-one knows precisely what he "got away with". He skipped bail and has not been seen or heard of since. One reads that he was seen in Amsterdam by some unnamed person but unless someone states differently his disappearance has been complete despite an appeal on Crime Watch....

Re: When have you ever been told that you can't go to a AGM

Every chess organisation I have been a member of has quite specific rules on who is entitled to attend/vote at meetings. There is no sign of a constitution on the website of the chess association mentioned in the opening minute. The President of that body may be quite right in stating that John is n...

Re: Premier League Fantasy Football 2019-20

Javi Garcia, former Watson boss An elementary mistake my dear. Two, actually. This proves a number of things:- a) When the fixtures were a fortnight ago, it pays to write your review at the time rather than on the morning of the next set of fixtures b) That some contributors here actually read as E...

Week 4 "My gratefulness and love for this club will be eternal. Javi Garcia, former Watson boss, sacked after 4 games. After the international break we return to Premier League action. In Week 4 Mark Leonard maintains his position at the top with two new challengers emerging from the pack in Onos K...

Re: Premier League Fantasy Football 2019-20

Week 3 So for me to walk away from Bury and never go back is a very easy thing to do. Steve Dale - owner of Bury FC who were expelled from the EFL this week. Last season Mark Leonard was the stand-out manager of Premier Chess Fantasy Football - he was in the top five for 37 of the 38 weeks. I point...

Re: Northumbria Masters

Both Armaan and Adi are from Nottinghamshire; the former playing for Ashfield in the 4NCL whilst the latter represents Grantham Sharks. They follow in the footsteps of Jonah Willow who I'm sure will soon have IM qualifying norms. FIDE ratings for juniors tend to lag behind ECF gradings which are a m...

Re: Strange happening

I thought the toy was a stuffed tiger, though of course I may be completely wrong.

Some time ago I had a game with a blind player whose guide dog sat under the table. Unfortunately the dog suffered from severe flatulence which did not help my concentration on the game.

Re: Premier League Fantasy Football 2018-19

Overall 2018-19 Finally a look at the overall performances for 2018-19. Although Robert Ashworth's final fling gave him the overall title, two players dominated - Mark Leonard and Gareth Yeo who appeared in 37 of the 38 weeks - a total of 190 points maximum were on offer of which Mark Leonard score...

Re: Premier League Fantasy Football 2019-20

Week 2 My agent called me about Norwich's interest and the first reaction was 'not for me'. Teemu Pukki Those of you who opted for the Norwich City striker had a field day in Week 2 and in the overall ratings those fortunate to nominate Pukki as captain coupled with Scandinavian compatriot John Lun...
