Re: Old Chestnut

Can I say I believe that [women] are not disproportionally reluctant to give up a Saturday to play a county chess match compared to men. You can say it, but it does not appear to be borne out by the facts. We have no idea what the facts are. We can say that there are few women players but unless so...

Re: Old Chestnut

Can I say we have gone off at a tangent from the original Old Chestnut about inclusion of female players. Can the discussion of venues go elsewhere please - I have several things to say (unfortunately) on this subject! I hope that the stats I produced (four women players out of 310+ in the s...

Well - semi-finals tomorrow. Perhaps a count of female participants?
Well over 300 players participated in the semi-finals. According to my count four were female and three of these competed in the U100 match between Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire.

Re: Finals 13 July 2019 @ Kettering

Here are the Union title scores for the past four years NCCU 9; SCCU 9; MCCU 7; EACU 2; WECU 1. In the final this year there are four teams from each of the MCCU, SCCU and NCCU plus one each from EACU & WECU. There is one all MCCU final; otherwise each competition is between different Union teams wi...

Re: Falkland Islands

The article quoted earlier translates thus- " A group of Argentines, secretly but not so much, moved the bishop in an unexpected place: the Malvinas Islands, where everything blue and white, after 37 years of the armed conflict with Great Britain, is still viewed with suspicion. They had the idea in...

Re: Crowd Funding Appeal

If you've been following this (and I hope you have), the inquest is now over with the local health partnership found culpable "Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership Trust (AWP) "significantly underestimated" her condition and there was a "gross failure" to provide care." There is plenty on li...

Re: 4NCL and the BCF

As far as I can see this was kicked into the long grass (or left on the table) and never resurfaced again. Having recently looked back at the BCM's reports on the 4NCL in 1996, they comment about the BCF's rival league every so often, but note that nothing seemed to be developing. I do not have cop...

Re: Premier League Fantasy Football 2018-19

Week 38 We could go to Old Trafford and win on the final day of the season. Neil Warnock. But it was over by then! Well here we go! As you can see from the preview, four teams were challenging leader Robert Ashworth. Mark Leonard's disastrous end to the season continued and of the remaining three t...

Re: Semi finals 2019

In the outstanding match Essex beat Cornwall so the U180 is Middlesex v Lancs; Essex v Warwicks.

The semi-finalists are MCCU 10; SCCU 9; NCCU 5; EACU 3 & WECU 1.

Re: Semi finals 2019

I understand the MCCU teams progressed in all the bottom pairings which will now be as follows:-

U140: Kent v Yorks; Worcs v Essex

U120: Notts v Yorks; Staffs v Essex

U100: Staffs v Lancs; Notts v Warks
