I found an mostly reliable Android app that connects to the Lomonosov tables.JustinHorton wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 7:21 pmThere's a version of it on a creaky Shredder site that worked for a bit (and then didn't) but is there a reliable version anywhere?

According to Lomonosov tables, a decisive mistake was Nh6 in this position at move 55 rather than Ne7JustinHorton wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 6:27 pmAnd great drama as Caruana beats MVL in what looked like an unwinnable Rook and g-pawn v knight and f-pawn ending.

Re: Cheating in chess
During one of my games after a few moves the game suddenly ended. I sign came up saying that my opponent had been violating the lichess terms of service. Although the game was ended with immediate effect, his account was not closed. Which struck me as odd. It could have been the lichess equivalent ...

Re: Cheating in chess
So there is the solution, if you think you have just played an online cheat, block them. That could work where the pairing scheme is one where you enter a pool and are paired with the next available opponent. It breaks down if playing in a team or individual championship where it would be difficult...

Re: Cheating in chess
There's no reliable way for chess.com or lichess to really know what the rate of false positive of their algorithms actually is. With a sufficiently large pool of trustworthy volunteers, they could attempt an experiment whereby they asked some volunteers to use engine assistance all the time some o...

Re: Cheating in chess
It's a piece about covid testing, but the application of Bayes's Theorem seems also relevant to the question of how many false positives are being detected by the cheat finder methods. As a summary, the smaller the proportion of people using engine assistance/ having covid, the greater the relative ...

Re: Arbiting question on 50 move rule
- they need to record the whole game (or the 50 moves), but obviously at speed that's difficult! If you are claiming that at least fifty moves have elapsed since the last pawn move or capture, why do you need to know what these moves were? Even without using the clock counter, you could have a scor...

Re: Arbiting question on 50 move rule
Both players were either not recording or had never been recording. They were moving too fast for me to record but I was ticking on a scoresheet to keep count of the number of moves. If you had been using one of the more recent designs of DGT clock, they record the number of times they are pressed ...

The material presented appears to confirm that the second place at Hastings was regarded at the time as a GM Norm result. This was discussed in another recent thread.

I took a look at https://ratings.fide.com/rated_tournaments.phtml?country=ENG out of curiosity to see what's there. There was a rapidplay in Hull listed for yesterday, but I rather think that's just not been removed. Otherwise it's just the Northumbria Masters in August, the Northumberland weekender...

Thanks, but what I mean is, I don't know who chessbae is. I gather from a brief search that the user name is chessbae94. As to her real name and position, if any, in the real world, that didn't become apparent. Seemingly an associate of Nakamura though and someone with power to remove content and b...
