Re: Peter Poobalasingam
This is very sad indeed, given the suddenness of it. My deepest condolences to Bala and the rest of his family, they are well loved in the chess community. To our 4NCL friends(and rivals) @ Barbican, sorry for your loss. Also to people like Matt Turner and his family who I know helped Peter loads th...

Well done to Mike for arranging new hotels in similiar location and price. Great job, you are still one of British chess's best volunteers.

Re: European Club Championship
Not easy to play a much better position against a 2700 with half of the worlds top 20 around your board...... still delighted but after Ne3 I must have a big big edge

ECF Membership
Hello All, My team are playing in European over summer and we all need to renew our memberships for next season. I find it totally shocking that you cannot buy next seasons membership but you can buy a year for 5 weeks now(expires Aug 2014). I do not know how they operate the business model @ the EC...

Re: Final weekend (2013-14 season)
The main candidate for demotion from Division 1 was obvious, even before the first round had even started. This was of course Grantham Sharks 2  Under a complete fiasco of management by Kevin McCarthy   Grantham Sharks managed to lose three IMs and an Olympiad member before the roun...

Re: Fide Master Charlie Storey seeks good 4NCL Team
Funny how little the forum knows about going rates. Which does not surprise me. Firstly there is no going rate. Barbican have perhaps 20 players over this rating and they dont pay a dime. I know of plenty of grandmasters who have played fot free. That being said if you are talking about players who ...

Re: Andrew Paulson -- Candidacy for ECF President
Interesting about the numbers of chess players. In terms of people who play the game casually . Id say surely over 500m just look at the recent WC viewing figures. In india, china and the ussr countries you will get near that number.

Re: Incredible crosstable!
We have a long way to go to be top half .
Still need 1/3 and have 2 professional sides to play.
