The South Island will have internal club events - definitely in Christchurch starting early February and in Dunedin, not sure about the other 'bigger' centres. I am holding monthly junior events in Christchurch as well, getting kids into tournament chess, 16 kids in November, 25 in December, will see how the January one pans out! Hi Simon No, not playing Congress this year, I last played in 2017 in Wellington. One of my kids has a big athletics comp next week which took priority. The 128th New Zealand Chess Congress started this morning (for juniors) and the 1st round of the Championships and Major Open are currently underway.

Hi Laurie, I agree with you on both of your comments. AWARENESS OF ECF AND ITS WORK I think this is ESSENTIAL. As you say, people wouod be far more willing to pay for something which they know something about. Email and/or postal newsletters would be a great start - obviously email would be a far ch...
