Re: Covid-19 - Suspend Chess Immediately

I'm told the Surrey and Kent leagues are suspended. The Croydon league is about to suspend. The London league and, I believe, the Middlesex league are both giving serious consideration to suspending.

Re: Covid-19 - Suspend Chess Immediately

I’ve seen doubt expressed about whether ‘herd immunity’ would work as a strategy against Covid-19. See, for example, last para here : Herd immunity might not even last, Costello said. “Does coronavirus cause strong herd immunity or is it like flu where new strains emerge each year needing repeat vac...

What is the longest that is a piece other than the king? (Am having trouble accessing the pgn.) Ah, I corrected the link for the PGN file. The longest non-king sequence I found - but remember I only searched a subset of games - was 10 for these two games: [Event "Saarland-ch U18"] [Site "Germany"] ...

Re: Is This A Record?

In one of my games at Hampstead over the weekend, White made six consecutive moves in the opening with the same piece. The game is here: https://beauchess.blogspot.com/2020/02/is-this-record.html Unfortunately I have been unable to find anything on the internet to confirm or deny a record. Would th...

Re: Is This A Record?

I think Tim's question might be answered - at least partially - using a Chess Query Language query against an established and comprehensive database of games. I'd do this myself but am pressed for time at the moment. Excuse me, got a question. Is CQL simiilar to SQL? where is the database? if It is...

There is some speculation that Mickey Adams is on Fabi's team, since he was seen in the background of an online event he was streaming.
If this is what was seen I'm not sure it was Mickey Adams.
