There is some speculation that Mickey Adams is on Fabi's team, since he was seen in the background of an online event he was streaming.
If this is what was seen I'm not sure it was Mickey Adams.

Re: January Grades are out

Further, correspondence with Brian Valentine indicates that only one of the two additional results came from the Surrey league (the other came from the London league). If I was going to hazard a guess, it would be that the London League game was the one you played on 19 November 2018 against Rishi ...

Re: January Grades are out

In July 2019 I submitted Surrey League results for the period July 2018 June 2019 (submission index =2) but (inadvertently with a different event code to the one used in January. Hence (initially) games in the period July to December 2018 were included twice in the grading calculation. This was "fi...

Re: January Grades are out

Just had an email from Brian Valentine (ECF Manager of Grading) who is looking into the issue. I know that in my own case I had two results from 2018 included in the 2019 calculation. The two results from 2018 came from two separate leagues.

Re: January Grades are out

An actual mistake, how does my games in 2019 (standard play) show as 41 when I only played 38, and the ECF Grading database website only shows 37. 2019/20 is 21 (100% correct) and 2018/19 shows 16 (1 short), therefore 21 + 16 = 37 NOT 41. Surely computer programs should not make simple mathematical...

Re: Nominations sought for post of Chairman of Council

Just to say I'm pleased Michael has put himself forward for Chairman of Council. In my view, Michael has made his points very well at Council meetings and does or did excellent jobs representing Silver members and as Voting Register Officer (including tidying up the process to calculate vote entitle...

Re: ECF DEVELOPMENT OFFICER STATEMENT

The EC Forum started life with the blessing of the ECF... For what it's worth, this isn't accurate. The Board agreed there should be a facility through which Directors would make announcements and respond to queries but no proposal for a forum was ever put to or agreed by the Board. Angus, please s...

Re: Complaint to ECF Board about CEO Mike Truran re. Development Officer appointment

New on the ECF website today: Outcome of a complaint regarding the CEO of the English Chess Federation.

Hopefully, in the interests of transparency, the Board will publish the full report.

Re: Council Papers are out

Draft (I assume) minutes have been published. At a glance they look fair and accurate to me though others who attended may like to confirm. I thought Ursula Wielgosz who attended as an "observer" made a good contribution: volunteering to be one of the tellers when no one else did and asking some per...

Re: Complaint to ECF Board about CEO Mike Truran re. Development Officer appointment

Coming back to the central issue, while my sympathy for Tim Wall is somewhat limited, I note [and I have said this before and so apologise for the repetition] that the dating of Carl Portman's communication remains unexplained. To that extent, I feel Tim has a fair point. Well, there was this: I wo...

Hmm... There's no attribution in Keene's piece and I reckon there are similarities with the annotations in Kasparov's My Great Predecessors Part 1 where the McDonnell - La Bourdonnais game is game 1.

Re: Complaint to ECF Board about CEO Mike Truran re. Development Officer appointment

Dear Julian... I have pointed out that you and the other Directors who voted at the October 12 Board meeting to uphold the flawed appointment of Carl Portman as Development Officer... Tim, possibly I've missed something but can I ask: how do you know the Board discussed Carl's appointment at its 12...
