Re: Chess-themed quiz questions

And back to the 'Chess-themed quiz questions' I did an empty-handed search for Chris de Burgh so it does appear this has not been mentioned before. What is the chess link between Chris de Burgh and David Bronstein? the answer is: https://www.redhotpawn.com/chess-blog/the-planet-greenpawn/bronstein-a...

Re: Creating a Position Diagram without Kings ?

Winboard 4.2.3 a free download is a small program that sits on your desk top so need to be on the net. It allows every illegal position you can think off Some forums (this one for example) do not allow a position without Kings but do allow illegal positions. (with Kings) 8/8/3PPP2/3PkP2/3PPP2/8/4K3/...

One live game is stuck in a loop and the easy daily puzzle...

Re: A Pop Up Chess Book

I was listening to R4ex 'Sorry I haven't a Clue' yesterday morning and a pop up book was mentioned. I thought that a pop chess book would be great. Instead of a diagram you would get this 3d board 'popping up.' I began thinking about how to do it but I must have missed that episode of 'Blue Peter'. ...

Re: Media comments on chess

I saw 'The Royal Game' last year. My comment Very Good. Richard plays all the parts so well you are expecting a curtain call for each character at the end of the play. (maybe he could put that bit in!) Very convincing scenes watching the prisoner going mad. Have told all my chess buddies to nip alon...

Re: Media comments on chess

At the 1992 murder trial of Paul Ferris a guard heard Ferris and Woodman (a witness for the prosecution) playing chess in solitary confinement by shouting the moves out to each other. This was offered as proof that Ferris knew Woodman well enough for Ferris to tell Woodman he was guilty. Ferris deni...

Alexander would have known each other. https://www.ecforum.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5043&p=189520&hilit=Ian+Fleming+Alexander#p189520 I'm wondering if this is another of Ian Fleming's 'in jokes' (from 'The Man WIth The Golden Gun.') https://image.ibb.co/kuHADT/golden_gun.g...
