Re: 4NCL International Congress

Michael, You would be hard pushed getting the police to act on this. I've personally been involved with fraud investigations at my previous employ where sums in orders of magnitude more than here were stolen and we could not get the police to act. My personal view is the same as yours, it is fraud, ...

Re: Repercussions / Fallout from FIDE Elections?

Honest Question John (I am asking as I attended one of the parties and didn't find it over extravagant and an excellent chance to catch up with old friends) What do you think cost Makro more? a) The parties and goodie bags b) Makros meltdown in the hall on the Kremlin, his woeful presentation on why...

Wonder if all the organisations that were supporting Nigel were aware of his intentions?
Upthread Andy Howie suggested he knew in advance. Were Scotland planning on voting for Nigel?
No but it didn't take the brains of a bishop to work it out

I'm beginning to wonder if Makro is deliberately throwing this way

First two speeches have been Really good. I wonder of Makro can recover from the double blow of his meltdown over the Kremlin and Zurabs comment about Africa..

Re: Cheating in chess

Does England have a representative on the FIDE cheating committee or does Brusells have competence. The FIDE website has details http://www.fide.com/fide/directory/fide-commissions.html?comid=88&task=committee There's no English representative, but Andy Howie of Scotland is listed. Several European...

Last Poll I saw up here was 65% in 35% out, that has been pretty much the pattern

Martin, the polls up here show quite a majority in favour of staying in the EU. Alas not the same across all of uk.

Re: 2015 UK General Election

I should add that I and many of my friends who are SNP party members would like to see PR. Despite our once in a lifetime result last week (which we are still in shock about) we don't like the idea of Scotland being essentially a 1 party state. Finally, and this is real food for thought. Had 16 year...

Re: 2015 UK General Election

Its pretty well known up here that in the event of an Out vote with Scotland voting in, there will be a second indy referendum to attempt to retain our EU membership. With SNP and Labour campaigning for In up here that shoud secure 70-75% of the vote for In. latest polls suggest (and Polls is a dirt...

But FIDE appear to keep ignoring their own rules I am always interested to hear about such occurrences. Can you give an example? Election of 5 VPs after Karpov's defeat, which at the time was against their own rules. They have been changed subsequently but at the time it was against the statuates

Re: Kasparov vs Ilyumzhinov: the FIDE Presidency battle begi

We are never going to get 92 delegates to Montreal in 2015 for an EGA, will take massive amounts of proxies to do it! You appear to know more than most of us about the location of next year's FIDE Congress. Can you enlighten us further? I believe it was Nigel Freeman who said on the last day that t...
