Re: The Irish Easter Festival: Norm events, 40+ events & All-play-alls

Hi John thanks for the updates re David being so close to the title... I admit I wasn't following his progress in this seasons 4NCL so closely... I seen he lost a game or 2? so thought his chance of a norm this season was not on the cards...good to hear it is still on. quote "further down the odds s...

Re: The Irish Easter Festival: Norm events, 40+ events & All-play-alls

Two norms achieved for local players! GM norm for Alex Lopez and IM norm for Conor O' Donnell http://chess-results.com/tnr329341.aspx?lan=1 http://chess-results.com/tnr329342.aspx?lan=1&art=1 As I mentioned before I expect Alex to become a GM in time...this result now propels him high up the ladder ...

Re: Irish IM Norm Event

Sam Collins got his 3rd GM norm and Stephen Jessel his 5th IM norm in the GM norm event that concluded yesterday. Sam and Stephen now join Joe Ryan... in the exclusive club of players that are half way there (already achieved the norm requirements) They all now need to get their ratings up (2500 for...

Re: Irish IM Norm Event

well spotted Roger... Turner now plays under the Scottish flag and Korneev the Spanish flag also not sure why Paronyan Vahe rated 1760 is playing in the IM norm event as surely this would effect the mean rating? possibly he is a reserve and the ICU has a 2200 - 2300 player to replace him? possibly h...

Re: DGT clocks sale price £25?

Hi David sorted...thanks, the ICU purchased quite a few and I have just now reserved one for collection for 20 Euros on 3rd Jan. By pure co-incidence today Friday 22nd was their deadline for ICU members to buy or reserve the discounted clocks! the 3000 models were being offered to ICU members for 25...

DGT clocks sale price £25?

Hi Guys wondering if anyone can help or advise? A few months ago at one of my chess clubs (I forgot which one) someone mentioned to me that digital clocks (unused) were available at £20 - £25 ..... this was maybe because they were end of line models or some other reason? Anyway I have an occasional ...

Re: When do you resign?

well sometimes people resign prematurely (better than patzers that play on in the hope of getting a stalemate in completely lost positions...I usually try to get as many queens on the board in those rare scenarios) last year I played a Central London league game against Nick Faulks and the position ...

Re: Richard Haddrell

Huge shock... like so many others I guess I thought Richard would go on forever and always turned to his SCCU page for the latest county results. His site was always up to date and he used to update county matches almost as soon as the results were known. I never met him in person but spoke to him o...

Re: High Court defamation suit

"Jennings argued that Morriss had several potential norms he could call on if this one were rejected, and the letter from Fitzsimons is a continuation of an incident between Morriss and Fitzsimons before Fitzsimons succeeded Morriss as ICU Chair. It wasn’t clear to me what the decision was here: But...

Re: High Court defamation suit

It all sounds a bit technical to me........i.e. that Pete was not in attendance for the 9 rounds is surely not in question... I was not playing in that tournament but I know one of the witnesses reasonably well and I believe that there were several other witnesses that could easily testify that Pete...
