Re: Self Published Books

Hi Andrew, I've enjoyed hearing some of your stories in the past, so the book sounds interesting. If you haven't already, perhaps John Upham could be persuaded to review it. Getting Chess & Bridge to stock a few copies would be helpful so that those of us in the London area could peruse the book bef...

I wonder if there will be a 45th Blackpool Chess Conference?
The congress website says: The date of the next event will be notified when this Covid is under control and hopefully will take place at the The Imperial Hotel Blackpool.

Re: The ACO is back!

World Amateur Championship is an oxymoron whether it's used by FIDE or ACO to mislabel their competitions. Try to look past this silliness and see the ACO events for what they are: excellent chess holiday tournaments. I've been to three previous ones and am looking forward to my fourth on Crete in ...

Has the ACO ever considered Turkey as a potential venue?
They have numerous resorts with excellent hotels.
Don't know for sure, but I have heard that they researched over 250 hotels from Croatia eastwards before choosing their venues.

Re: The ACO is back!

I presume that these tournaments will still not be FIDE rated, as they make make false claims about their status. Unlikely, as both ACO and FIDE use the same ridiculous title "World Amateur Championship". More important, I think, is the fact that ACO run great holiday tournaments in excellent hotel...

I received a phone call from Noel Boustred, the organiser of the Harrogate Chess Congress, at 4.30pm this evening.
Noel has asked me to inform you all that regrettably, the Harrogate Chess Congress has been cancelled.
Thanks for confirming the least surprising news in a long time.
