Re: 99th British #Chess Championships 2012
Thanks for posting this, Lara.
Any chance of the Soanes results? (The prizewinners if nothing else.)
A club-mate was playing so I'm keen to know how he got on.

Re: 99th British #Chess Championships 2012
I'm intrigued to know why some players (nine in round 1 and one in round 2) received a "Draw by default" in the Soanes (U150) weekender. Isn't it just the way that particular pairing and results program handles a half point bye? Thanks. Because one player was also separately listed as having a bye ...

Surely Charlie Storey didn't just win that game?

Re: July 2012 grading list now live
Why couldn't you go back to the previous January (when calculating January grades)?
That would give you a rolling "previous 12 months grade", which sounds fine to me.

Re: The Jungle Rook
I'm only a weak player but I can analyse with a computer and it seems to me that 47.a5 would be pretty good for White. Isn't this a case where the outside passed pawns are harder to stop than Black's connected centralised pair? You must have thought so when you played 45.b4! (Oh, on preview someone ...

Re: Side effect of the countback system
...suppose a player plays 30 games between July and December, performing at 140. They then play 29 games between January and, say, May, performing at 160. If they play no more games before the grading cut off then their grade will be 150 (and a little bit). But if they can just play one more game, ...

Re: Side effect of the countback system
Consider a player who plays 40 games a year. Because of the count-back method the 10 games he plays immediately before the end of the cut off period will be counted twice in calculating his grade (i.e. in January and July) whereas the other 10 games will be used just once. I'm assuming that your ex...

Re: Beta XML Interface
What is the status of this SOAP interface?
I can access the test server (e.g. to fetch a list of club names), but I'm not getting any results back for individual players.
If this was put live can you provide the URL/URI?

I can see the games (top boards only) in Internet Explorer but not Firefox. I think the same thing happened last year and was quickly fixed (once reported).

Re: Premier League Fantasy Football
The league owner/administrator has to renew the league and then the website will issue a new code.Alexander Hardwick wrote:The site claims that the code is not valid to join a league. Does this mean that it has been discontinued? Or is this temporary?
You cannot use last year's code for the coming season.

Re: The webmaster's bright idea?
Is there a new URL? I understand from the ECF website that there was a problem with the Google map recently created, which is a terrible shame. I spent nearly an hour on it myself, and that was just to add some of my local clubs. To re-create the whole thing must be very painful.
