Re: ECF Finance meeting 2018

angus has the picture of the voting table :) ... provided to me by John: VotingCardsTable.jpg I'm not sure when the picture was taken - was it at the start of the meeting, John? I know of at least one late-arriver. On the proposal to merge Bronze and Silver membership categories, 63 card votes were...

Re: ECF Finance meeting 2018

(2) a Gold Membership for who people who want to play ECF-rated Chess AND FIDE-rated Chess (where FIDE charge for rating) - which is what this proposal is making? Anyone would think that FIDE charge an arm and a leg for international rating. In the context of a rated Swiss, you would scarcely notic...

Re: ECF Finance meeting 2018

on my side, the opposite! Fair enough - from my experience, I sent out an email to the clubs and asked for it to the circulated to all club members, and got about 15+ responses from various individuals in my League. Apart from one response, all the others responses varied between (1) being fully in...

Re: ECF Finance meeting 2018

The NCCU have put forward a proposal to that effect, yes. Given that the NCCU is distrusted by many within the North of England, never mind outside of it, I suspect the proposal has little chance of succeeding. I have indeed heard interesting things on the matter/NCCU. However, on this particular p...

Re: ECF Finance meeting 2018

I expect the Budget will be approved without difficuly, because it usually is. Council members are right to feel that it is dangerous to fiddle around in a large meeting with a construct that has been painstakingly created from many moving parts. This year, however, the issues do look unusually str...

I feel that other people in the nccu has hijacked it and has lost the value of what the proposal is?
Rule of thumb, if the internal politics of the NCCU appear exciting, you're probably missing part of the story.
depends on who the person is :)

Re: ECF Finance meeting 2018

I spoken to the NCCU President, byran about the proposal, as he was asking the MCF to support him

had a good chat to him, but I feel that other people in the nccu has hijacked it and has lost the value of what the proposal is?

Re: setting up a Social Chess club

Well now, if we knew the answer to that we'd be millionaires. I've bought this book . I shall read it and tell you the answer soon. If you're going to ask the ECF for £5,000, be sure to include the words "feminist", "diverse" and "central" in your proposal. They don't have to mean anything, they ju...

Re: County Championship Consultation

just wonder if you combine the Open and Minor Counties event and that the 16 team play under a Seeding System and the winners of the last 16 go into the Open and the losers go into the Minor Counties event, so that a) 16 counties will get 2 Games B) you might get more counties!!! c) 2 Fide rating ga...
