Re: Cheating in chess

There is a way to turn this around. We have Losers Chess, why not have Cheaters Chess? Each participant is allowed to cheat in any way. If the method of cheating is discovered then the player is disqualified. We would need a counterfeit cash prize large enough to make it worth participating.

I'm left with the view that you are simply not a reliable or credible witness.

Update on car parking at Kingston University. It is possible to park all day for £2.70 on Saturday and Sunday at the Fassett Road car park. Parking is around 100 spaces, first come first served. Friday is also possible after 4.30pm but the car park is full until people start leaving at 5.00pm. Parki...

You've broken your political neutrality to confirm you are happy with Zurab
He was the only candidate for ECU President and was voted in almost unanimously.

Re: Repercussions / Fallout from FIDE Elections?

can you comment on the suggestion that Zurab is a thug and a bully or is he a re-formed character? I've always found Zurab to be open and honest with a sense of humour. He gets on with people and is doing a good job. He has attracted many dynamic people to support the ECU which is growing rapidly. ...

you might explain why your favoured candidate was a good choice.
My favoured candidate was Zurab Azmaiparishvili. He has done an excellent job over the last four years in growing ECU as a separate brand. I was there for the ECU not for the FIDE Congress.

Re: Repercussions / Fallout from FIDE Elections?

JT if you do not believe me, I cannot help you further. On any definition of "independence" there should be no beneficial connection between the parties. Hence proving independence is equivalent to proving a negative - a fruitless exercise. To move the discussion forwards, why don't you tell us why ...

Re: Surrey Chess Congress October 26-28

I suggest putting car parking details on the website somewhere. The one off Penrhyn road is a bit confusing to get to (as is the one near the station)and you don't want to circumnavigate the one-way system too much! The big car parks next to the shopping centres do get full at weekends sometimes. H...

Re: Repercussions / Fallout from FIDE Elections?

I thought you were backing Makro and assisting his campaign. JT, if you were to read the thread you would see that I was not connected with the ECF delegation and nor was I part of any campaign group. As an official with the ECU, I refrain from expressing political opinions. I had conversations wit...

Re: Repercussions / Fallout from FIDE Elections?

John, you might like to reflect on your choice of candidate and their policies. JT, the ECF Board decides which FIDE presidential candidate to support. To remind you of its clear and principled grounds: the Board felt unable to support the candidacy of Arkady Dvorkovich, or anyone connected with it...

Re: Repercussions / Fallout from FIDE Elections?

Both major candidates had stalls at the Olympiad. There were speeches at the Assembly. Sure, but where was the opportunity to ask questions in public of each of the candidates assembled together prior to the election? The nearest thing we got to this during the Congress was at a conference New Gove...
