Re: https://greatbritainjuniorsquad.com/official-partners/

open tournaments this year stronger than Llucmajor, Grenke, Moscow Aeroflot If any English player performs decently in Llucmajor it will most likely be the No8 seed,,, Thanks, I actually did have Grenke in my list, when thinking about it And personally will be more interested in Ste's games

Re: https://greatbritainjuniorsquad.com/official-partners/

Just been thinking about this another way using the "10% rule"; lets take 100 opens as my sample size, why this size because most opens last on average 10 days (includes travel days each side) you theoretically only could play around 30 in a calendar year So can I name 10 open tournaments this year ...

Re: https://greatbritainjuniorsquad.com/official-partners/

Don't start changing your criteria by just comparing with UK events, you did say Europe What generally has happened in this thread is that you make a claim, when someone asks for evidence you just say it is up to the challenger to justify you are incorrect. I have provided a list of stronger events ...

Re: https://greatbritainjuniorsquad.com/official-partners/

Hi Alan, If you are going to make a statement like that please compile all European Open Events National And International Opens and when you see I am correct that it is I will welcome your apology otherwise you will have to join my collection of 'pointless to respond to because its just wasting my...

Re: https://greatbritainjuniorsquad.com/official-partners/

I will always want my fellow countryman to do well in any tournament abroad What point Ian was making was the blatant over exaggeration saying it was one of the strongest opens in Europe (I have checked the entry list) this to me looks a pretty standard tournament in strength, the stronger events ar...

Btw, I am also thinking now setting up an academy and going to say I have won 500 tournament, oh bugger somebody has challenged my claim; well it was a good idea whilst it lasted

Re: https://greatbritainjuniorsquad.com/official-partners/

This has been a most pleasing thread. If someone had asked me a few days ago how many Opens I've won I would have said 5 (Bradford 2006, York 2011, Huddersfield 2015, Bradford 2017, Doncaster 2019). Little did I know that I should be counting things like the Huddersfield individual knockout, Idle r...

Re: National Stages 2019

Obviously, eligibility rules are important, but if you can't get enough players out in your county, what do you do? If the Competition is sufficiently prestigious, players will find ways of bending the rules. In recent years there were a couple of Oxford players with dual eligibility who turned out...

Re: End of season round-up, part three

Anyway on to next season with Andy back should hopefully make us safe again, only if they sort out the Euro Club clash the first weekend next season; because at the moment we will be entering that and having to miss the first weekend Is that not dependent on 4NCL(/ECF?) nominating you which they ma...

Re: End of season round-up, part three

3Cs 3Cs secured their survival easily enough by winning all three matches in the final weekend to top the relegation pool, by virtue of adding a second GM. whether it is one GM or two seems to make a big difference to 3Cs: with two regulars they can trouble all but the very best, as they did in 201...

Re: Div 3 North 2018-19

Looks like MM1 came up a bit short vs their strongest potential teams. Plenty of depth in the squad but not that much of it is 2200+. I guess you can always relegate many of the bottom boards from MM1 to MM2 and move the MM2 ones up :) Jorvik flying amusingly high in the end. I you will find that M...

Re: Div 4 South 2018/19

There is no tie break regarding board count; it is average of the opponents but looking at this match Wessex were higher rated and I suspect Oxford 3 should be third

Re: 15% markup in ECF transfer fees for World Schools Ch, Turkey

As much as this thread has been interesting read; the original question on the absurd 1:1 exchange rate being applied hasn't been fully questioned From my knowledge there was a possible risk of a slump in the pound if the event of no deal; but the current markets haven't been pricing this in over th...

Re: Another new IM

It very simple really; just put the round by round results into the FIDE rating calculator; and hey bingo it gives you your answer I thought you yourself said it was uncertain? I was pretty sure it was achieved by 0.4 points; but I was just thinking to get an extra point to be on the safe side beca...
