Re: COVid19-What's wrong with UK?

The three sizeable countries with the highest vaccination rates are Israel, Chile and the UK. Re: COVid19-What's wrong with UK?

Zero COVID is an impossible aim; even NZ and Australia haven’t achieved this; they have just minimised the cases by closing all borders Once they reopen they might have a worse problem because of the lack of immunity Unless we all want to become hermits accept that this is an endemic disease and get...

Re: Cheating in chess

The platform didn’t get it wrong because it will not know the specific details of the individuals involved; it just noticed from the games some inclination of rating manipulation After the investigation this showed it was a mistake by the individuals involved not doing this activity as casual games ...

It’s a shame as he’d scored something like 21.5/23 in the events he’d entered.
That might be the reason his account got flagged!

Where are this afternoon's games? Can't find anything on chess24, chessbomb or the official site. This is a European championship!
I think they are on tornelo; there was a link higher up to the previous stage; so I assume you can navigate your way through

Re: Proposed reorganisation

Actually speaking as a northerner, the Milton Keynes venue isn't too much different from Daventry in journey times (about 15-20 mins); also if I was getting the train to Long Buckby I have connected at Milton Keynes which is only 1hr 45 mins from Manchester and relatively frequent

Re: The ACO is back!

I have to admit; I was duped back in 2013 when I played thinking it was FIDE rated; but it was a enjoyable event, but I would not go back because it isn’t rated

So if Blackburn has a Cathedral why isn't it a City?
Have you been to Blackburn?
Also having a cathedral doesn’t automatically make you a city

Re: Proposed reorganisation

The 2021-2022 season doesn’t need 11 rounds, because of using the Swiss system; so the risk of losing a weekend becomes less relevant I think September is too early; they want to get the test events out of the way before fully committing to booking hotels for a September start; you would need to boo...

Re: Proposed reorganisation

I think historically before Div 3 was created, Division 2 grew to 18 teams and played as a Swiss event; then one year the bottom 6 went into Div 3 and there was a qualifying event (at Daventry) where about 20+ teams of 4 played off for the 6 other places; this is when 3Cs got our second team origina...

Re: Levon Aronian statement

Agree, with the other factors; just worried that USA are trying to buy international success and it may devalue the Olympiad which is one of FIDE flagship events

Re: Levon Aronian statement

I not bothered either way who he plays for; but most sports are quite strict on international representation, so why not in chess Olympiad’s as well; if this was football he could never play for the USA or anybody else but Armenia I would say the majority of his earnings is as an individual which is...

Re: Levon Aronian statement

Agree with Nick

If you want to allow movement between countries then it should be like the old cricket rule; if you have played internationally for another country (Olympiad etc.) then you have to wait 4 years before you can represent you new country
