Re: GDPR : What are the implications for LMS systems ?
David Sedgwick wrote: A FIDE rating file without a date of birth for a player will be accepted if the player's FIN is included. Thank you David. That is a helpful clarification. It would be helpful if someone at the ECF could produce a relatively short guide to FIDE rating files spelling out what ot...

Re: Refunding Entry Fees to Withdrawn Players
Competitions should state their refunds policy in Conditions of Entry/Competition Rules so everything is clear. Transparency reduces any chance of ill-feeling. Most players would think that a minimum notice period and a small admin charge were entirely reasonable. Organizers can additionally use the...

Roger de Coverley wrote: Apart from new players, FIDE and thus the ECF Office will know the date of birth. Certainly true for English players, but do FIDE tell the ECF of the dates of birth of all non-English players? The point I was trying to make can be summarised as follows: a) Will FIDE processi...

Re: GDPR : What are the implications for LMS systems ?
Michael Flatt wrote: The ECF acts as an intermediary between the grader and FIDE. Yes, that is true. However, the report data file format that FIDE stipulates contains a data field for date of birth. I don't expect the ECF office to fill in the missing data if the date of birth is absent (even if th...

Re: GDPR : What are the implications for LMS systems ?
David Sedgewick wrote: With online entry and compulsory fields, you can of course solve this. As Michael indicates, you can ask for Dates of Birth only for players who don't have a FIN or don't know what it is. A FIDE rating submission file has a mandatory data field for date of birth. If this field...

Yes, although for English-registered players that cost is included in Gold membership or the £10.50 pay-to-play fee.Roger de Coverly wrote:

Re: PaySubsOnline
Thanks to Gary Willson, who took the trouble to phone me, the problem is now sorted. Although PaySubsOnline allowed me to login there was confusion in the system between old and new email addresses. However, I have now been able to renew. Thanks Gary.

Re: PaySubsOnline
I get the identical problem on PC and smartphone, so it is nothing to do with (e.g.) ad blockers or anti-virus software. The problem is very definitely with paysubsonline.

Re: PaySubsOnline
This doesn't solve the problem for me. I can login but there is no menu option to renew my subscription. Behaviour is the same on Firefox, Chrome and Edge.

PaySubsOnline
Is anyone else having trouble with PaySubsOnline? When I login to renew my membership the menu bar contains only two items: Member Details and Payment. There is no option to renew or change membership category and the payment page refuses to take any payment (presumably because the 2016-7 membership...

You could also have a look at Vega : http://www.vegachess.com/tl/index.php/Home_page_English.html It interfaces with the ECF list and outputs ECF grading files. It is also FIDE approved. The Linux version is free. The Windows version is free for tournaments of up to 30 players (so you can download i...

Re: ECF Finance Council Meeting April 2017
So to take an unlikely but not entirely impossible scenario: If a player for (say) Bath plays 4 games in his club tournament, 4 games in the Somerset League and 4 games in the Bristol League, all without taking out membership, his club will be billed 3 x £15 = £45 (one bill of £15 direct from the EC...

Re: EU Referendum - in or out?
Brian, Tony Benn often spoke good sense, but in the passage you quoted he overlooks several important facts. Firstly, in Britain we effectively have an elective dictatorship. Once a Government is elected, provided it has a working majority, it can effectively do what it likes. there are actually mor...
