Re: Jovanka H. in the Daily Mail
Well Joey,
It comes to something when the 2nd biggest English News Papper in this country founded in 1896: a) Spell Jovanka's name wrong, and b) don't know her correct age, it shows that Newspappers can not be trusted clearly.
Even Wikipedia happens to know Jovanka was born in 1980.

Re: Jovanka H. in the Daily Mail

League chess I can understand not having so, but in tournaments when professionals are playing a game...

It is so typical chess players over react and take the joke to seriously; It must be true most chess players have no sense of humour.

Yes a lot of nation's seem to be inflated in ELO terms. Just get Bogdan Lalic's view on British players Fide ratings, and that will answer your problem.

Re: I've expanded my library - advice sought on read order
That is so silly, why on earth would a chess player recommend avoiding anything but GM's books, people seem to always think GM's are the best coaches and authors totally untrue!
Just take a read of Siliman an IM which has done tremendous books.

If people are sad enough to listen to a yorkshiremen on Top Gear. Then I am sure chess can make it, it is very specific audience for chess, and so is Top Gear.
If I was not a chess player I'd much rather watch chess then Top Gear.

Re: Peter Lalic - road to....?
But he will shoot up as we know he is clearly better than that. If he does not lose interest in chess he will undoubtly be a IM at the very least, I also think Peter would be a great coach. There is absolutely NO doubt he has the ability and the passion for the game. His father said he is actually p...

Re: Surrey Border League Fixtures on-line
I seriously can not comprehend why adjudications are allowed. What is the difference between someone adjudicating their game, and looking at it with the aid of computer assistance and someone using pocket Fritz on their Mobile phone during the game. If one makes this argument there is absolutely NO ...

Re: Are quickplay finishes bad for endings?
No Jack your right, I think rapidplay finishes do have a bad effect on endings but that is the fun part trying to find the right continuations in a matter of seconds left fighting for the game in a complicated ending.
