Re: Should the ECF try to organise more chess?

Andrew Zigmond asked --- Are the current office staff non players? The name of the best known office member is taken twice in the database and the most likely candidate has a respectable enough grade of 163. If that's the name Andrew Walker (best-known?) it's me and I am a non-player If that's Gary ...

Re: Membership Renewal

RE: Is the office open
I've been working from home since June 1st, five days a week. Gary returned to work (from home) on the 1st July. We have been open, and I have visited the office in Battle once per week (on average) to deal with the post.

Re: Membership Renewal

In case any forum readers are unclear, all ECF members who paid their membership by Direct Debit last year need take no action should they wish to pay by Direct Debit in 2020-2021 and remain members at the same level. We hope to put the 2020-2021 memberships on sale shortly, and current members will...

Re: UK Pun day

When I was learning chess, I once tried to move my castle first. Bit of a rookie error.

Re: Badge

Brian Look no further for the culprit than me. I ordered the badges, OK'd the design, queried and obtained the funds, created the list, set up the mail merge, printed the labels, stuck the labels on the jiffy bags and organised the posting. I was not solely responsible for putting the letters and ba...

Re: Results of the ECF 2018/9 Grand Prix

QUOTE --- There's no obvious link on the ECF's site. A Google search came up with https://www.englishchess.org.uk/ecf-grand-prix/ --- UNQUOTE Roger - I really do try my best, and have done so for the past ten years. Is this link, from the very front page of the website, not obvious enough? https://w...

Re: ECFgrading SSL

This reply from Dave Thomas, via Andrew Walker in the ECF office --- The SSL certificate is used to encrypt data transmitted between the user and the web site. There is no facility for confidential data to be passed between the user and the grading website - therefore using HTTPS (and thereby access...

I am, and always will be, open to fresh ideas / images / suggestions, especially directly, which I feel is always more polite than via the forum, which I visit very rarely. Send your images to andrew@englishchess.org.uk and when a suitable image presents itself, I'll change it :D :D :D :D :D Good ne...

Re: FIDE Senior Championships 2019

It's true that we used to have all the links in dropdowns at the top of the page, but far more people complained that these were too busy and too complex and that all the links should be visible than are complaining here, so I put them all in plain sight. However, as the one, the only webmaster, I a...

Re: Rebranding

For me, clicking also doesn't work, and reloading didn't help either. I had to right-click and 'copy link' and paste the link into a browser. It then worked. The differences are interesting. Can you remember roughly which year that change took place, Andrew? From the older to the old? Roughly Octob...
