Re: ECF registration for players from outside England
Players who are not FIDE ENG are charged, or not charged, in exactly the same way as ENG players. EXCEPTION: there are somew...

Re: NCCU and the MCF
One thing I am surprised at is how the BCF could have easily stamped this nonsense out by putting sanctions on Lancashire I believe the BCF and its officials were under threat of legal action from the Lancashire complainants, who would no doubt consider themselves blameless and demand sanctions aga...

Re: Media comments on chess
Not a media comment on chess as such, but to-day's Times (page 15) reports that barrister Feliks Kwiatkowski, an established Sussex County player, has been fined by the Bar Council over comments he made about female barristers.

Re: Events in 2021
but I can find nothing saying how it will be different. By Christmas there will have been several months of Congresses running without the restrictions Hastings seem to think are necessary or required. Here's the list It is recommended that all players attending the Congress should have been double...

Re: Frequency of League Result Reporting
A look at the Events Received list on the grading (OK, rating) database suggests that some Leagues are submitting not annually, not bi-annually, but almost match by match.

Re: Vezerkepzo IM June 2021
BCET: some googling indicates that: (a) in January 2020 BCET funds were transferred to the Chess Trust, which I infer to be the effective closure of the BCET (b) its last published figures (2017/18) were £1,100 income and £600 expenditure; I can't see a balance sheet (c) its governing remit was "the...

Re: Chess Covid regulations poll
Twenty players at the Hastings Club rapidplay (10m + 5s) yesterday. Five juniors and most of the rest comfortably into middle years. Most not wearing masks, some wearing them all the time, some chopping and changing. Hand sanitiser everywhere if wanted, and spare masks. Handshaking seemed haphazard....

Re: News
I'm not sure about that, my memory fails me. I think it was obvious that there had been wrong-doing so 'without any admission' would have little weight. I think BCF just wanted to move on. I seem to recall - I reiterate, failing memory - that PJE was dismissed by the bank who employed him; indeed, i...
