Re: e2e4 Chess
I have been asked a number of times recently whether e2e4 Chess is winding down or ceasing completely. I can assure you that neither is the case! I have announced today two further 2013 events, and I can also reveal that there will be a nine round tournament at which norms will be available at Sunn...

Re: e2e4 Gatwick congress cancelled at the last minute
but I am surprised there is no announcement on here and the ECF website (where the event is still advertised). It's on the e2e4 website and has been since at least yesterday (Tuesday). Something similar happened at Buxton last year but in that event the hotel chain made another hotel available afte...

Re: Buying things second hand
25p maybe? Nice contribution. Thanks again. I don't think people should be ridiculed for purchasing from Ebay – apart from the fact that people (including myself) can purchase items at a price they can afford it also helps towards the recycling of product rather than continuing to dump in landfil...

Re: Child Genius - the representation of chess
"The numbers can't support it" - I suspect this is because most people don't have the financial resources to send their children to private schools and those that have don't spend the money for the fun of it they want to try to ensure that they give their children the very best that they can give th...

Re: ECF National Secondary Schools Co-ordinator
What possible benefit could that bring to us? It very much depends who you define as us. It can be in the nature of chess governing bodies that they seek to control and regulate, so a smaller body of players very much under control is preferable to a larger more anarchic community. Sports or other ...

Re: ECF National Secondary Schools Co-ordinator
It is no good beating about the bush on this one. The National Schools Championships have been set out with the idea of encouraging and developing chess in schools and among children. That's the vision of the sponsors and the organisers. We can't have it killed off with an insistence on ECF members...
