Re: Chess and Mathematics Conference London Olympia 6-7
Not sure if this is related, but I was asking some children in my ACES chess class how they did in their 11+ tests (they come from all over Kent) and this year the test was made a little trickier such that only 8 children (out of 13,000 or so) scored 100%. In my class, there were two of them and thr...

Re: The British itself!
That is a brilliant achievement - well done to Ravi - when was the last time a 15 year old did so well in the Championship section at the British?

Re: The British itself!
Can now see the results of the U16s, U13s and U8s. Something very strange happened in the second to last round of the U8s?

Re: The British itself!
Very exciting games this year in the main championship event!
Does anyone know what is happening in the Junior Championship events - the website is not being updated. Can anyone give us some regular updates on winners etc?
Many thanks in advance,
K

Re: Censorship on new English Chess Forum
This is probably explained somewhere already, but why is there a new forum (with almost the exact same name) when one already exists? Are the ECF using volunteers or paying people to run it? If they are paying, could they not use the funds more wisely elsewhere and if they are volunteers, could they...

Re: Women at chess clubs
I couldn't help but laugh when I read this. I am a female (my name does not give this away as Krishna can be a boy's or a girl's name). There are a few things I can mention. I teach lots of girls and boys to play chess and they love it. Girls do enjoy playing chess. If you want more girls to play th...

Thank you for the team updates to John, Lawrence and Thomas - nice to hear how you are all doing!
Don't worry Thomas, you're in a tough section! Keep going and well done to Venetia - great when the littlies are doing well!

Re: ECF Junior Selection Policy -- annual consultation
.... It would also be useful to understand whether the existing system is biased towards the private education sector. The ECF can hardly be expected to create a level playing field in this regard, but neither should it be reinforcing that advantage. What proportion of those at the recent tournamen...

Re: ECF Junior Selection Policy -- annual consultation
Thank you to Phil for consulting. As always, it is super that you do talk to parents/chess officials and ask for opinions. In answer to your questions: 1) Definitely yes 2) Definitely no - it is driving the costs way too high. Give parents a choice and those that want the coaching can take it up sha...

Re: Stopping Cheating
Too late, the software is already out there, and has no further use for the people who wrote it....the machines will take over the world!!! Unless we can figure out a way to send a 'Terminator' back in time...... :D If you send a terminator back, then what if his arm accidently gets severed and the...
