Re: British championship grading sections in the main event

Hint, run a rating report on a copy of the existing data with all players below X reset to X. Assuming those people want to know how they are getting on each round it is not as easy as it may seem. If you simply change all the people below the threshold then you could get someone who played a 2100 ...

Re: Probably a record?

It would have to be not FIDE rated Why can it not be FIDE rated? FIDE Regulations There must be no more than 12 hours play in one day. This is calculated based on games that last 60 moves, although games played using increments may last longer Even if you take 'a day' to mean any period of 24 hours...

Her father took a video which clearly showed a device in his hand. This ...

Re: Div 3 North 2017 - 18

All I will say is that it is just as well that no-one is in contention for a norm because I don't see how anyone could reproduce this year's pairings. :D :D I can just about justify it on minimising floats. In reality it saved me having to guess the results of the top two matches to balance colours...

Re: Durham Congress

I shall be there and demand I win all my games by default and am then sent the relevant money prizes...all of it. Hi Geoff, I turned out to meet you last night and again this morning. You didn't show on either occasion and therefore are defaulted so fail to win first prize. We still await your entr...

If you have an amateur tournament (i.e. most weekend tournaments in England), then I think you need to FIDE-rate it to attract more players.
Blackpool? Scarborough?
The two biggest weekenders on the circuit. Neither are FIDE rated. (And neither qualify for entry to the British.)

does anyone know if any norms are possible?
Yes I do.

No. Nasuta failing to convert his better position was the last of the 5 seekers from this morning.

I guess it must be connected to the pairing system that no one seems to have more than 3/4!!
More likely the two rounds per day :D

Acceleration was decided and advertised when a less strong event was envisaged but sponsorship especially that from Capital helped strengthen the event.
