Coverage of the 2018 Chess Championship.

What’s the best way to watch the live action from home of this match if you can’t make it to the venue? Is there a youtube channel broadcasting live with commentary and analysis?

Matches appear to be at 3pm.
There is only one match.

Re: Parking in Llandudno

As a guide, it is about one mile from the Craig y Don Paddling pool to Venue Cymru.

Parking in Llandudno

Hi all. As a local resident, I thought I would just clear up where you can expect to park for free in Llandudno if you are travelling in from elsewhere to play each day. On the crude map below, any where marked in green should be free to park. You can expect to have to pay to park anywhere to the 'l...

Not been here for ages but good to see that so many people here can still start arguments in empty rooms.

Colwyn Bay Congress 2015

Andrew and Syringa Camp would like to thank everyone who entered the 2nd Colwyn Bay Chess Congress for their support and for helping make this congress such a success. Numbers were up more than 20% over last year, which we are very pleased with. Thanks also to our arbiters, Peter Purland and Kevin S...

Re: How Do You Resign

I like the Rick Mayall method. Look at the board in bewilderment, stand up and punch my opponent in the face.

Not that I'd ever do that...honest.

Free Chess Sets for all Schools in North Wales

About a year ago, the North Wales Junior Chess Association competed for a grant from Lloyds Bank in order to fund a project to provide schools in North Wales with free chess boards and sets. We failed in that attempt but due to very generous sponsorship from Chessmaze International (also sponsors of...

Re: ABERYSTWYTH - ARE YOU GOING?

Keith has already played his first round game. He will 'receive' a zero point bye for round two.

Re: Warwick 2015

It will be a decent venue for commuters and being in the midlands, there could well be many of those. However, for those of us that treat the two weeks as a holiday too, it's a non-starter. Many said the same about Sheffield though and that was a success so I am sure this will be too. But Coventry i...

Re: Warwick 2015

I am sure the standard of catering at university campuses has improved in the space of 45 years! (Unlike the Brazil football team!) This venue probably does not fall into the category of places most people would consider as a venue for their annual two weeks holiday, so might not appeal to many of ...

Re: 1st Colwyn Bay Chess Congress

This was an interesting one. Kevin Staveley came up with the plan of allowing people to keep their mobiles on them but only if they registered the number with the arbiters first and paid a 50p donation to charity. Everyone seemed to go for this happily. If your phone then made a sound, you defaulted...
